In December 2014, parallel with the release of the film's sequel, a special edition with both films was released on DVD. [23] Extended version [ edit ] BBC America began airing The Inbetweeners from 25 January 2010. [36] The network aired both of the first two series as a single 12-episode series. The same was done by MTV Latin America. a b c "Inbetweeners sets box-office benchmark for UK comedy". BBC News. 23 August 2011 . Retrieved 10 August 2014. Age rating: 14+ for VERY STRONG LANGUAGE, FREQUENT STRONG SEX REFERENCES, DRUG REFERENCES AND INFREQUENT DRUG USE.

Neil Sutherland ( Blake Harrison) is gentle and gullible, and the most sexually experienced member of the group. Simon Cooper ( Joe Thomas) is the most cynical and hot-headed of the group, being prone to bouts of hysterical swearing at the slightest provocation; his on-off relationship with Carli propels many of the plots. On 1 January 2019, Channel 4 broadcast a 10th anniversary special entitled 'Fwends Reunited', hosted by Jimmy Carr. The four lead actors were present alongside supporting cast members; the title is a reference to a joke within the episode Will Gets a Girlfriend. Hogan, Michael (1 January 2019). "The Inbetweeners: Fwends Reunited was a shambolic mess that failed to do the show justice – review". Daily Telegraph. Simon is described as the most normal of the group [17] who leaves "fans feeling sorry for him over and over again". [18]

Taking the tired format of a lads’ holiday, The Inbetweeners Movie (2011), sees the foursome decamp to Malia for a sort of millennial update on Kevin & Perry Go Large. Cue: slow-mo drinking scenes, cliched storylines, repetitive dialogue, the bantz meter cranked to full and the gang bumping into their old sixth-form head teacher being a party animal. By the time The Inbetweeners 2 (2014) found the group in Australia, the well was truly dry and any semblance of charm had vanished.

Oh, and while I'm ranting, at a recent school assembly (I haven't been for a while) my DD seemed to be about the only girl in her year still in knee-length skirt, polo shirt and school sweatshirt (their uniform) - the others had moved over to the high-school look of mid-thigh skirt (OK not quite the bum-skirt of the local high school, but on the way to it), fat ties and tight jumpers. I know they're all growing up, but am I really the only parent of this school year who thinks this "uniform" is inappropriate? Principal photography took place in the United Kingdom ( London, West Sussex), Magaluf, and Malia, Crete. The Interiors of the empty club where Neil shows off his dance moves were shot in Infernos night club on Clapham High Street, London. This British comedy sequel is a rare thing in that it's a TV sitcom that's ben turned into a movie and actually worked. The Inbetweeners 2 won't be for everyone, but following on from the first movie, which also found its place amongst fans of the original TV series, the crude humor seamlessly transitions from small to big screen. This time Will, Simon, Neil, and Jay have swapped sunny Spain -- the destination in the first movie -- for a trip to Australia. But despite the change in scenery, the tonality and essence of what made this comedy series so popular, is there for all to see. West, Dave (5 June 2008). "E4 takes second series of 'Inbetweeners' ". E4 originally aired the first series in May 2008, and Channel 4 also broadcast it in November that year. The second series began screening in the UK on 2 April 2009 and finished on 7 May 2009. A third series was commissioned by E4, commencing on 13 September 2010 [7] [8] and ending on 18 October 2010. The first episode of the third series had the highest-ever audience for an E4 original commission. [9] Following the conclusion of the third series, the cast and crew of the programme indicated that there would be no fourth series as the programme had run its course, but that an Inbetweeners movie would be produced, set some time after the third series and following the cast on a holiday in Malia, Crete, Greece. Across its three series, The Inbetweeners operated under the cover of the characters’ age and inexperience. The show got away with such crassness and puerility because it was supposed to be crass and puerile: these were children, fully loaded with ignorance, naivety and stupidity. It laughed at the pathetic wretchedness of their behaviour, poking particular fun at Jay’s lies about his sexual triumphs. It also knew how to craft a genuinely comic scene: Simon’s accidental exposure of his testicle on the runway of a school fashion show is base but undeniably funny. For all the vulgarity and insensitivity, the TV show was always redeemed by the setting and situation. Where The Inbetweeners truly jumped the shark was during its transition to the big screen, where its characters reached adulthood but the humour didn’t. Jones, Wil (2 January 2019). "Last's Nights Inbeweeners Reunion Show P*ssed of a lot of fans". Joe. The first episode of series two, which aired on E4 at 10 pm ( BST) 2 April 2009, averaged 958,000 viewers, [28] with another 234,000 viewers watching at 11 pm on the time-shift channel E4 +1 meaning it was watched by 1.2 million, the highest audience of 2009 for E4.
