The live-action film debuted at #1 at the Japanese box office during its opening weekend, earning ¥654million through 479,700 admissions. [71] See also [ edit ] The characters are not too fleshed out except for the two leads as this manga is currently only on its second volume. I will say though that what I have seen so far is very good, and a vast majority seem believable in their motivations and actions. It's written in a way where you are empathetic towards Miyo from the start, but it does not portray her in a way that makes her feel contrived or useless.

In 2020, the manga adaptation ranked eighth in the sixth Next Manga Awards in the web manga category. [66] It ranked sixth in the 2021 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of the best manga for female readers. [67] The manga ranked first in the "Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics of 2021" list by Japanese bookstore Honya Club. [68] In 2022, the manga was nominated for the best shōjo manga at the 46th Kodansha Manga Award. [69] It ranked 29th on the 2022 "Book of the Year" list by Da Vinci magazine. [70] First of all, as someone who also has self hatred since I am a child and longer than her (Because I am older than her), I will say that the way this manga portray self hatred is really realistic. Her inner thought is exactly my thought on daily basis. The way she always think in negative way even if someone say something normal, the way she is easily influenced when someone begin to say even a bit of negative thing, the way she always apologize even if she doesn't need to, it's just same as me.Loveridge, Lynzee (August 19, 2020). "Norio Sakurai's The Dangers in My Heart Wins Tsugi ni Kuru Web Manga 2020 Awards". Anime News Network . Retrieved April 5, 2022. This series got me more stressed about it the more I wrote about it, and I mean, this series is a pretty basic shoujo romance when you think about it, a shy girl that was mistreated by her family after losing her mother being rescued by an absolutely hot, tall, rich and perfect ikemen that will stop being the mean guy that he supposedly was and will protect her, treat her well, love her no matter what and solve her trauma with his looks, richness and, in this case, literal fire. Despite the problems of the show, the animation is beautiful, the series looks really gorgeous as you should expect from Kinema Citrus, the colors are so vivid and it is always clean, when the fights with super powers come it becomes really great to watch, it is pretty weird when I'm more interested in seeing the visuals of the opening than hearing the song, not like the song is bad mind you, so you will be seeing a very beautiful series in case you want to sit and watch it, if you can ignore the basic premise and glaring problems with the "wholesomeness" then go ahead, but this is basically Cinderella with Avatar's bending arts. The premise is that certain families hold special powers which help them maintain their status. Miyo is the oldest daughter of the Saimori, one of the families which is on the decline. Even though her mother was from a very-highly regarded clan of people with powers, she herself doesn't have any, which means that she has spent her entire life being horribly bullied by her stepmother and half-sister. Her family sends her off as a bride candidate for the young master of one the rising families, who is notorious for, you guessed it, turning down all candidates. They're convinced that she's going to be sent away in shame, but Kyoka (and his middle-aged servant) actually take to her, which is where the "happy marriage" part comes in. Miyo) seemingly has no prospects, beauty, or life skills. Also, the prince wants nothing to do with her at first. However, as the story goes on she discovers that there is much more to life than what her discriminating family have previously shown her. The world building is also pretty well done, and it's fleshed out to a level you wouldn't normally expect from a slice of life romance. From the start we know that certain families have hereditary powers passed down through the generations, and their political power and clout are dependent on how strong these powers are. These powers range from mind control to the ability to control fire and I think it's a wonderful spin on what would otherwise be your typical historical manga. This world is established without too much needless exposition and is a cut above most romances in terms of how fleshed out and interesting it is.

A parte il meraviglioso tratto grafico, questo primo volume mi ha piacevolmente sorpresa per il carico emotivo che si porta appresso. The cast of characters was fine, but besides a couple characters outside the main duo, the rest were forgettable. A lot of scummy characters for sure, and I do see that popping up a lot in shoujo series. Miyo’s character was frustrating at times to watch, but she had some very good developments as well at the climax of the first half, and the aforementioned symbolism really helped with that. Kiyoka I had more interest in, especially in his abilities. I liked how he treated Miyo, and how his attitudes changed towards her throughout. You can basically say that Miyo and Kiyoka bring the best out of each other, as Kiyoka helped Miyo break out of her self-deprecating nature and stand up for herself, while Miyo helped Kiyoka open up more as a person. Obviously, as you would expect, Kiyoka treats Miyo in a way she doesn’t expect, and the relationship builds from there. Pineda, Rafael Antonio (July 6, 2023). "Montreal's Fantasia Fest to Screen The Concierge, Sand Land, The First Slam Dunk, 16 More Japanese Works". Anime News Network . Retrieved September 18, 2023.

I DEEPLY enjoyed this heartbreaking volume! Miyo's story is compelling right from the start and only goes to rip your heart out with the abuse she has endured at the hands of her family. My heart felt so broken for her in the worthlessness that she feels and really believes she has no value throughout the course of this volume. Hodgkins, Crystalyn (July 7, 2023). "My Happy Marriage Gets OVA Bundled With 8th Novel Volume". Anime News Network . Retrieved July 9, 2023.As for Kiyoka, he simply wanted someone who would want to stay by his side. He wanted someone who would genuinely enjoy living in his forest cottage as his wife, not simply relish his status or wealth. And Miyo would do that. He had no intention of letting go of her. Her stepmother and very own father have little time or affection for her, and Miyo must suffer being treated as a servant by her half sister who, unlike Miyo, is blessed with the unusual powers of their blood.
