Once you have connected the Icon Platform M+ to Ableton Live by following the steps above, you can now MIDI map the physical buttons, pads, keys etc on the device to the corresponding functions in Ableton Live by doing the following: Adobe Lightroom Classic is an application for editing and organising photos. Used mainly for the editing of RAW files – a format that retains all the information photographed by the camera – one of the attractions of Lightroom is the ability to edit photos in a non-destructive manner. In essence, this means a wide array of adjustments can be made without overwriting the original image. Although Ableton Live doesn’t provide a default MIDI remote script within its software for it, the Platform M can still be midi mapped to many functions within the software. Features include 9 x motorised, touch-sensitive faders for hands-on control of levels and automation; 8 x dual-function rotary encoders for pan/select; 4 x illuminated buttons (Select, Mute, Solo and Record) on every channel; Jogwheel for project navigation, zoom and scrubbing; and 6 x illuminated transport buttons (Play, Stop, Record, Rewind, Fast Forward and Loop).

The same type of process of MIDI mapping applies to the X+. It should be noted that the X+ is designed as an extension for the M+, not as an independent controller. It is possible to use the X+ independently, although users should be aware that there is no banking option available on the unit and other restrictions may apply, depending on your DAW. Moving the physical control on your Platform M+ will now move the position of the corresponding parameter in Ableton. Transport controls also make it easy to move around your projects, setting up loop points and recording overdubs, as well as controls for zooming in and out.
