Roman is so open and honest in this, even about stuff you wouldn’t necessarily talk to anyone about, and now he’s told thousands of people. After this pandemic we’ve been through I fully believe everybody needs to read this book to evaluate their lives! It was at that point that I looked up and realized that her pole wasn’t bent at all, which it would have been if there were a fish on the line. At first, I was disappointed as it felt like it was just going to be a transcript for the TV series. Covering such a vast array of instances where people who Dooley has met through various documentaries just highlights how much of an important subject mental health needs to be spoken about more often.

Roman Kemp: Our Silent Emergency, review: a raw, candid look

And finally, but least important, in part four she mentions the importance of physical health and the need to set healthy boundaries in the different areas of our lives determine the cost over the sacrifice that will mean to you or your loved ones. By reporting on and sharing these experiences, we can all learn more about mental health and hopefully care in this area can be further improved. He notes that he takes an antidepressant, and has done so since he was 15, and discusses men’s mental health in depth with his parents and other contributors. They let Stacey, and thereby us, into their worlds and struggles with such sincerity and frankness that it is hard not to be moved.

Roman Kemp on heartfelt inspiration for mental health book

Roman Kemp: Our Silent Emergency (BBC One) was a frequently raw film following the young radio presenter’s attempts to deal with the suicide of his best friend. Fergus explained the spiral he went down when he became lonely at university and how he “just wanted a bit of peace, a break from my own mind”. This is a great book for a younger, more contemporary audience, addressing issues they'd be more in tune with. Debra is an excellent counselor, and in the pages ahead she will take you on a journey toward emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical health.Roman’s ability to be open and share exactly how and what he is feeling sets the tone for the whole documentary, and underlines the need for more men to open up in whatever way they feel comfortable with. Fileta discussing the aspects of health from a mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual standpoint was so spot on and the writing of how each is so very important is so true! She doesn't shove it down your throat, instead she meets you where you're at, at least that is how I felt while reading this book. The reason I give it four starts is two reasons: first, if you’ve already gone through the healing process before reading this book, a lot of the info may be stuff you already know, so it’s definitely geared towards people who haven’t fully started the healing process yet.
