The midrange of the FiiO EH3 NC has a warmer tonality with a smoothed out character. The SIVGA SV021 is slightly more neutral, bright and energetic in direct comparison. The lower midrange of the EH3 NC shows a bit more body and depth when I do listen to male vocals or to instruments such like acoustic guitars or violas. When it comes to the upper midrange, I can say that the SV021 is more highlighted and detailed in this area, which adds it a slightly better sense of transparency and airiness. The SV021 is also more suitable for female vocals or instruments such like violins, flutes or pianos that do need more energy in the upper midrange area. Technicalities: Shiro Sagisu – Hundred years war (02:24-02:57), wider on the SV021 but deeper and more holographic on the KPH30i. Detail, imaging and separation are better on the SV021 (due to the very peaky and elevated treble) but timbre are leagues ahead on the KPH30i. I wouldn’t be using it for bassy things or pairing with anything beyond entry-level mid-tier pricing, but I would drop a cheap amplifier or DAC in there and feel just fine with a great college student setup that blows “gaming headphones” right out of the water. That said, they do scale up well with a quality DAC/Amp combo like the Audioquest Dragonfly Cobalt.

Sivga sv021 Review • Audiostance

The lower midrange shows a moderate level of depth, intensity and extension, which adds instruments such like acoustic guitars, trumpets or violas and to male vocals male vocals like Barry White, Sting or Isaac Hayes a sufficient sense of fullness and musicality, while I would wish a tad more depth and body. Hiroyuki Sawano – Lose (string version) (01:22-01:59), Violins/cellos on the 1AM2 is better in every way. The highs are energetic with nice air and sparkle on top, details are good, and the treble doesn't get overwhelming. There are a few occasions when there is a little too much “bite” depending on the frequencies, which can find me reaching to turn down the volume on ocasiones but to be totally honest, these headphones have tended to make me raise the volume a little more than usual. At my normal listening levels, the odd peak does not seem to appear except on very specific songs. Sub-bass: Djuro – Drop that bass (01:15-01:30), not a lot of rumble and extension is below average. Punch quantity is also not that elevated nor is it very tight/fast. Sounds a bit bloated and yet clean at the same time. Accidents, abuse, misuse, improper installation, problems with electrical power, acts of third parties. Besides the 50mm driver sounding tempting, a claimed frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz is even more appealing, though not out of the ordinary for headphones made for budding audiophiles.

Sivga Robin SV021 Headphone Review - Does it Sound Good? Sivga Robin SV021 Headphone Review - Does it Sound Good?

There is a little creaking when moving the headband around, nothing terrible but it is noticeable, and unfortunately there is no swivel in the cups, something that may be a deal breaker for some, but is actually fairly well counteracted by the pads. The Robin SV021 is not what I would call forward feeling in the physical presentation factor. In fact, I’d call it relaxed and a bit recessive, but the entire spectrum is recessive thankfully, and not just the mids. However, to my ears, how the Oriole handles the upper midrange can accentuate those frequencies a bit too much and become a touch aggressive. Depending on the music choice, the Oriole can become fatiguing for long-term listening. The sound signature of the ATH-M50X is similar to the Robin. However, the overall performance of the ATH-M50X is duller and colder, while the Robin are more energetic and engaging. The Robin bring the music to me in a more lively form. Sivga SV021 Robin Vs vs Soundmagic HP 1000 (150 USD vs 300 USD) – I like the thing Soundmagic has been doing with their headphones, but comparing the two feels slightly unfair to me, as HP1000 is much more expensive, and also goes for a widely different sonic presentation. The comfort is better on SV021, which is lighter, has deeper and softer earcups, and has less of a hotspot at the top of the head. The construction quality is better on HP1000, but it results in a higher weight. Both have slightly proprietary cables. Neither doesn’t come with balanced cables from the factory. The sonic signature is bright, brilliant, clean, detailed, wide and neutral. By comparison, SV021 sounds dark, but deeper, with more bass quantity, a deeper bass, a more dynamic sound, and with less focus on treble and a much more recessed midrange.

Comfort & Isolation

Sivga describes its treble as “clear and gorgeous”. Yes, it is clear, but it may or may not be “gorgeous” depending on one’s preference. To my ears, the upper mids or the treble can exhibit a certain amount of sibilance, depending on the music and/or listener’s tolerance. The “S” and “TS” sounds can be harsh depending on the music. Inside the box are the headphones, detachable cable, a 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapter and a fabric carrying pouch. It would have been nice to see some kind of actual carrying case but the omission of one is how Sivga has kept the price of the headphones down. Design Let's start by saying the Robin is not only built solid but it's beautiful as well. A fine example of a wooden headphone. TrebleLike most of the V-Shaped headphones, SV021 Robins are bright up top. They can get sibilant and grating quite easily in higher volumes. Also, you can come across sudden peaks even when you think you are listening in a relatively safe volume. To be honest I had one the worst Gangsta’s Paradise experiences with their mushy bass and tiring treble.

The FiiO EH3 NC shows in general a warmer tonality and slightly fuller presentation with lower sense of clarity and definition, while the SIVGA SV021 sounds a tad more neutral, transparent and airy with better sense of headroom. The inside of the earcups are covered in the same protein lea
