It's unsurprising that each character gets their own snazzy fluorescent skin colour, as they all look the same and it's the only way to tell them apart. And now I can't help but think I should read more graphic novels by women to see more of this female gaze in romance with pictures. Debuting on Webtoon Originals in 2018, Lore Olympus captured hearts and minds with its glamorous setting, razor-sharp comedic timing, complex characters in messy relationships, and above all else, its breathtakingly beautiful visuals.

And because I trust her reviews and do like the retelling of what initially is a pretty chilling Greek myth (the irony of making it a love story must have the Greek gods turning in their graves and as a woman, there is some pleasure I take in that) is always a curiosity to me.

Told in a modern-day Olympus, Persephone is new to Olympus and is dragged to a party by her new roomie, Artemis. Setting Greek myth in a modern day society of fast cars and bars, Lore Olympus is comedic and playful with the well-known characters in a way that is fresh and just thoroughly entertaining.

All in all, I thought this was okay, but I have to admit that I expected more from this because of all the hype it had. Rachel Smythe is a master storyteller, filling each gorgeously illustrated page with equal parts humor, heart, and joy.
