Just occasionally, if a cold spell occurs at times of high occupancy and all users switch on electrical heaters and kettles at the same time, you may suffer reduced power or even a power cut, so it is important to use electricity responsibly.

This is by far the easiest way to power your television, laptop, hairdryer or even microwave on the go. The kettle may, I agree, trip the 10amp RCD , but again, a kettle run boiling on the gas is another option. All our leads are assembled by qualified electricians and PAT tested by an independant electrical company. It includes 4 x UK 3-pin plug sockets, so you can be sure your phone, camera, laptop or any other electrical appliance stays charged when on the campsite. The maximum cable length of 25 metres should ensure it can reach the supply bollard at most sites in the UK.This means that an appliance will work, but live power will continue to flow to it even when it is switched off. However, the Holiday Site Managers have an overall responsibility for the safety of all campers while on their site, so if a Holiday Site Manager notes any electrical equipment not conforming to the Club’s recommendations or connected to the electrical supply in an unsafe manner he or she is empowered to disconnect that camping unit. If the site only supplies a maximum of 10 amps, then you'll need to be a little careful about using multiple 'high energy' items.

Grabbing an electric hook up cable (EHU) and going to a campsite with electric hook up pitches is a really great way of adding a couple of luxuries to make camping life a little easier and more comfortable. You should find a sticker somewhere on the hair straighteners that tells you the voltage (V) and either the current (A) or wattage (W or kW). The connection between the two cables should be raised off the ground by the use of a propriety joining cover. I’m going on the assumption I’ll have no electric hook up and would need something to bring me power for at least a few days. It's worth noting that even 16 amps is barely more than a single household wall electrical socket, and this is needed for everything, including water and space heating, microwave, kettle etc.

Working out if it can provide the right amount energy for your needs is as straightforward as using an electric hook up, so check your appliances and do the maths before making any expensive mistakes. From there you’ll be able to plug in standard 3-pin plugs into it and use your appliances (or at least some of them). It depends where you intend to go,if you are going to the EU you will often find that even a 25m lead isn't long enough. If the campsite is only supplying 10 amps then you can only use up to 10 amps regardless of the fact you have a 16 amp unit.
