When US Prohibition came into force in January 1920, the Scotch world was dismayed. Economic depression, coupled with high taxation, had forced a high reliance on export markets. However, as was the case with a handful of other blenders, the company’s distribution to markets close to the United States such as Canada, Latin America and the West Indies suddenly shot up. If some shipments made their way into the States, then so be it. Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates. The first thing I like about this bottle is that there is practically no label! One of my biggest pet peeves with whiskey bottles (and especially with the Famous Grouse brand) is that you can’t really see what you are buying. That amber colored spirit is the star of the show, and the bottle should accentuate and display it as much as possible. A huge label like the typical Famous Grouse varieties sport just hides it, but with this version the whiskey is large and in charge. Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us.

It wasn’t until Matthew Gloag III inherited the business from William in 1896 that the company registered its first blended Scotch, the Brig o’ Perth. A year later, The Famous Grouse was released at the same time as The Grouse Brand. Edrington, owner of Naked Grouse, said the change is being made in response to the increasing popularity of single malts, and demand from bartenders for an accessible whisky ‘with distinctive flavour’. Edrington, an ultra-premium spirits company, is representing its Naked brand with a new identity that showcases “Naked Malt” — a first-fill sherry cask finished blended malt that appeals to a new generation of whisky drinkers. This single-malt, Indian whisky produced and bottled by Paul John Distilleries in Goa, offers a deliciously punchy, malt-forward tipple with bags of character. Aged for eight years in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at cask strength without chill filtration, you can expect a bourbon-esq sweetness on the nose, with lots of honey, syrup and light fruits. This follows through on tasting, where you’ll also find barley and a syrupy, almost tropical sweetness. This single malt is a classic for a reason and if you’ve never experienced Indian whisky before, it’s a truly exceptional place to start – providing you’re willing to splash out a little.Less commonly found are blended malt whiskies – these are produced using malted barley only, but may combine malts from two or more distilleries. This typically creates a characterful blend that’s more complex than a malt-grain blend and usually cheaper than a single malt. This mysterious brand is produced at an unnamed distillery somewhere in Speyside and the result is an outrageously drinkable whisky. It may only be an 8 year old single malt whisky at its core, but those eight years have been spent maturing in bourbon barrels and then followed with a further three months in deliberately bijou octave Oloroso sherry casks to imbue as much complexity and flavour as possible.

Not just Steve Buscemi with a skateboard— this actually is a scotch with a flavor that should appeal to the younger crowd. And everyone else, for that matter.Consumers and bartenders are looking for something more unique, which is why we wanted to move the brand on and change it.’
