To take the guesswork out of which golf balls are and are not legal, the USGA publishes and regularly updates its list of non-conforming golf balls.

The spinning capabilities are limited in this ball but, on the green, you will feel a good stopping power. Although Cut golf balls are marginally more affordable, I produce similar distance, accuracy, spin, and control with the tour balls.I rarely, if ever review golf equipment and/or golf balls but felt the need after hitting these today.

I created Out Of Bounds Golf to test different products and techniques and share them with other average players. Most of our Cut golf ball reviews have centered around tour-quality constructions that work for higher swing speeds and skilled golfers. Our newly formulated more durable urethane cover has a softer feel and features a 314-dimple pattern. If you want a little more control over your ball as a beginner, you can upgrade to the Cut Blue ball, which has slightly higher compression, while still being suitable for players with moderate swing speeds. The Dual Core design proved effective on high-impact shots as it boosted energy transfer and maximized rebound off the clubface for explosive speed and low spin.It wasn’t all peaches and cream, however, as the Cut DC did exhibit some issues in terms of cover durability, which I was concerned about after the initial testing I conducted against the Maxfli, which is a far more durable golf ball. I say almost because compression is weighted a bit more because it’s effectively 2 separate metrics (consistency across the 3 points measured on each ball + consistency across the sample as a whole).

You seem to have gone all in on golf ball weights and measures and have discarded ball performance as important to golfers. In all cases, the failing grade was the result of significant variation in cover and/or mantle thickness. I didn’t like the way these felt at impact (too firm) and I didn’t feel like they had enough forgiveness for an average “weekend” golfer. In my experience, almost every ball I’ve hit that costs, say, 80% as much as a ProV1 has been at least 80% as good as the ProV1, and often closer to 90% as good.

However, the ball cover scratches easy and sometimes has minor cracks in it after playing one round of golf. I juggle between the high end versions of Titleist, Bridgestone and Taylor Made and the 4-piece blue plays every bit as well as the pricier balls. In fairness, I didn’t feel the need to take the ball out of play over the course of 18 holes, but it was heading to the shag bag after that.it’s hard to beat the value that their Cut Red balls offer to new players, making them an excellent choice for beginner players. After a long career developing golf balls for major OEMs, Dean Snell hung his own shingle in 2015 and helped usher in the direct-to-consumer golf ball movement. On a personal level, Chris played college golf and was a three-year letterwinner and two-year captain at Lynchburg College in Virginia and later spent two years as the assistant golf coach at the University of Virginia. I literally drove the ball less than a yard difference and hit approach shots so similar I couldn’t tell them apart until I stood directly over the ball and saw the logo. If you have any questions about this golf ball compression chart, comment down below at the bottom of this guide and I will help you find the right ball for you.
