I checked all the photographers from last years' competition and a few new ones, but almost everyone seemed to have skipped going to the solo competitions and I only found pictures from the duo and group competitions. So, even though I told myself "no more competitions for a while", I signed up for a local competition with this costume. This was the base for version 2, I was a lot more pleased with this one and started shaping it more to become like Chi-Chi's helmet!

Which I actually quite like, because it's just after the part where I throw the blade from my helmet.

I also met up with a Roshi at the same convention and he was so completely in-character I couldn't stop laughing. View spoiler Hide spoiler Sorry for the blurry picture of the shoulderplates, but with work-in-progress if my pictures turn out bad, I can never re-make them because I'm already at the next step! But hey, it was my first time I made a helmet, so I just brushed it off and started working on a version 2 from the things I've learned! To be honest, I couldn't really point out in the design what these were, so I ended up just making small covers to have the effect.

If I would re-do it, I would make a lot of the parts cleaner, especially the silver details that show some small breakages. Unfortunately nobody I knew was photographing and I haven't found any pictures of this meetup afterwards. I haven't watched Kill La Kill (yet), but I don't see myself doing one of those super-bare transformed outfits if that was what you were trying to say, lol!

So for this costume to be wearable again, I will have to remake and/or strengthen a lot of parts and to be honest I don't have much motivation for that right now and I prefer to move on to the next project. Lots of people wanted to make pictures of us when we were talking and he even had a "master Roshi approves of this" sign with him. I always start out with a paper prototype and if that prototype works out well, I make patterns from them.

Making the details for the chest plate made me sweat and curse quite a lot, because it was so small and fragile! Back to my story: I started off with making a pattern from a foam head that is almost the same size as my own head. Seriously, industry-professionals having a Youtube channel that they use to show how they make their amazing stuff are the best!In Chi-Chi's character design most of her hair pieces are quite "square" and I decided I wanted to literally recreate this effect. The Chichi Dragon Ball Z Cosplay is perfect for all young girls who don't let themselves be walked on. I always think it's funny how parts look burned so quickly, but nothing of that will be visible after undercoating and painting!

Considering the size of these boots, I decided to grab my favorite pair of sneakers and make a pattern around it for her boots.When the costume was close to finishing I uploaded this teaser to show what I had so far and also to show how the design from the cape and top works View spoiler Hide spoiler the fabric at the top of my shoulders is not visible when wearing the wig and this was also before ironing everything, so pardon the small mess :P. I like with Lilith how she comes over as very sexy, but is still quite clothed (she only has bare shoulders). How long the drying process takes depends on the weather, but on a general (quite cold) day in the Netherlands this can take a full day. It's perfect for working on cosplay, because I know that everything I make on the mannequin will fit me too!
