Tyler’s eyes widen—and this, this is my favorite part. The abject terror that takes over their faces. That’s how I know they’re finally seeing me, realizing what I truly am. Layne Fargo is an exceptional writer that has produced an edgy, compelling and sumptuously sensual narrative. If this weren't her debut novel I would immediately start on another of her works. There was as much drama offstage as on. The combat choreography scenes were equally dramatic off-stage as on. Carly is a freshman at the same University. And guess what? English just happens to be her major too. She’s watched helplessly as her roommate is abused by a fellow student. Can Carly muster up what it takes to seek revenge, or should I say exacting a little simple justice too?

Footsteps slap the pavement, and the side door to the garage swings open. Right on time. A young man comes in, swabbing the sweat off his brow with the hem of his T-shirt.

The book is written in first person so connecting with Scarlet or Carly was no problem, and, to me, the length of the chapters was plain perfect. We root for Scarlett to escape the police and carry on her brutal work not just because she’s the primary protagonist but because in a world that consistently turns a blind eye to women’s suffering—offering nothing beyond a shrug, a sneer, or outright victim-blaming—what she does feels like divine justice. She’s the inevitable outcome of a broken system. If the guilty were properly punished in a court of law, if women could actually escape the violence that permeates every aspect of their lives, Scarlett Clark wouldn’t have to be a serial killer avenging angel. I did expect her to be punished in some way and might have preferred that, but I'm not at all mad that she wasn't. Tyler lies there panting, soaked through with sweat, blinking up at me as I methodically wipe all traces of my fingerprints from the device.

Tokyo MX listed the series premiere at 24:30 on April 6, 2019, which is effectively April 7 at 12:30 a.m. Fargo’s writing and pacing is phenomenal. She leads the reader through They Never Learn, step by step, doling out bits of information to guide us through the plot like an expert dance partner. There’s not one wasted word. I was listening to the book while driving one afternoon, and I just about drove off the road at one of the major reveals. I know I’m reading something special when an author can illicit such a strong response from me. She expertly maintains a level of suspense from beginning to end that kept me intensely involved in the story.Ressler, Karen (April 17, 2017). "Viz's Shonen Jump Adds Robot × Laserbeam, We Never Learn Manga". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on April 2, 2019 . Retrieved April 4, 2019. Rehearsals begin for “Temper”....at the non-equity-indi community theatre called: “Honest Theatre Company”, in Chicago. Scarlett Clark is an exceptional English professor. But she’s even better at getting away with murder.
