Hannibal Lecter - Wikipedia

In Tennessee, Lecter toys with Senator Martin briefly, enjoying the woman's anguish, but eventually gives her some information about Buffalo Bill: his name is Billy Rubin, and he has suffered from "elephant ivory anthrax", a knifemaker's disease. He also provides an accurate physical description. The name, however, is a red herring: bilirubin is a pigment in human bile and a chief coloring agent in human feces, which the forensic lab compares to the color of Chilton's hair. We get that Harris had intended to set Lecter free in the third act, he went through a lot of trouble and put the plot through its paces, in service to the character. Hannibal (1999), by Thomas Harris Any issues with the book list you are seeing? Or is there an author or series we don’t have? Let me know! After the grisly events of Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal flees to Europe. He's hunted by not only the FBI, but also Mason Verger, a former patient he brutally maimed and left on a respirator for the rest of his life. He lives out his days under the alias "Dr. Fell" in Florence, Italy when the Hannibal book begins. The second appearance of Hecter was on the novel Silence of the Lambs where he assisted an FBI agent in catching a known serial killer. Silence of the Lambs was also a novel by Thomas Harris which was first published in 1988. The novel also featured Lecter along with special agent Clarice Starling. This novel was awarded by Bram Stoker Award as Best Novel in 1988 and was also nominated on 1989 as World Fantasy Award. Hecter also appeared on the novel Hannibal. He was portrayed as a museum curator and had an alias of Dr. Fell. Hoping to lure the Red Dragon into a trap, Graham gives Lounds an interview in which he deliberately mischaracterizes the killer as an impotent homosexual, which includes clues to Graham's location. This infuriates Dolarhyde, but instead of pursuing Graham, he kidnaps Lounds. Gluing Lounds to a wheelchair, Dolarhyde forces him to recant the allegations on tape, bites off his lips and sets him on fire, leaving his maimed body outside his newspaper's offices. Lounds dies from his injuries soon afterward, and the tape of his assault is sent to his newspaper and the FBI. Graham receives a letter from Lecter, congratulating him on his indirect murder of Lounds. In the book Red Dragon, Will Graham has moved on from his time with Hannibal Lecter (in the first go around), and married a woman with a child. When he sees Hannibal again to consult on the Tooth Fairy case, Hannibal taunts him for trying to wear his married life "like a costume," something to put on so he won't be who he really is and forget what he's seen. There are two antagonists: the murderer and Hannibal. Starling must be wary of both, but it is evident who she is most afraid of. It is the beast at the institution who aids in the investigation and his demented mind.

Hannibal Lecter has been described as having the condition of polydactyly, which involves having another digit on the hand. In this case, he has two middle fingers. The Hannibal Lecter franchise is an American media franchise based around the titular character, Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant, cannibalistic serial killer whose assistance is routinely sought out by law enforcement personnel to aid in the capture of other criminals. He originally appeared in a series of novels (starting with Red Dragon in 1981) by Thomas Harris. The series has since expanded into film and television, having four timeline-connected franchise films produced by Dino De Laurentiis Company: The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Hannibal (2001), Red Dragon (2002) and Hannibal Rising (2007), with three starring Anthony Hopkins. Like The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal also features Dr. Lecter and Clarice Starling. However, in this one, Lecter is living in Italy under an assumed identity, and Clarice is no longer the hero cop she was. Instead, she has fallen from grace in the FBI after an ill-fated shoot-out and some bad press.Harris wrote a 2006 prequel, Hannibal Rising, after film producer Dino De Laurentiis (who owned the cinematic rights to the Lecter character) announced an intended film project depicting Lecter's childhood and development into a serial killer with or without Harris' help. Harris would also write the film's screenplay. However, the Mexican guard’s prediction did not come true. After serving 20 years in prison, the doctor’s sentence was commuted, and he was released in 2000.Amazingly, once he was a free man, Treviño continued his medical practice, providing medical care to the poor until he died in 2009. Hannibal Lecter Series by Thomas Harris - Goodreads

Those who read Red Dragon first will likely enjoy the book and be more invested in finishing the series. Hannibal Rising is a great book, too, but I’ve known more people to dislike it than Red Dragon. Therefore, if you read Hannibal Rising first and don’t like it, you might not want to finish the other three books, which would be a shame. Grieg, Charlotte (2009).
