When I think smoky dark vanilla I think of Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon or Alien Essence Absolue. Wear alone for a sweet, deep woody-vanilla fix or use as an anchoring base for lighter, more effervescent scents. For an evening out, it will turn you into that mysterious, delicious smelling enigma that everyone follows with their nose. Its very sweet, smells very gourmand so if you don't like this sort of a scent, you will be in sugary overload. It's a must-have for the evening on the town once again Michael Kors has out done himself with this new aluminum fragrance midnight shimmer. My only complaint is that it doesn't project or last long enough, though it does linger nicely on clothes. It isn't isn't very complex, I don't detect too many notes outside of vanilla, but in cool weather, I think it will be one to wear!My skin tends to produce these kinds of smells with woods, or flowers such as freesia or rose) Instead, it's a very balanced woody,floral, sweet fragrance on my skin. And it just wafts so nicely from warm skin, woods and vanilla are just the best combo for a comfort scent. I've been on the hunt for woody, resinous, smoky vanillas, and based on the notes and reviews I thought Midnight Shimmer would fit the bill. I hope I can find another good smoky vanilla scent; hoping Black Opium Le Parfum can replace MS once I've used it up.
