Description

The new chemical innovations in Sentinel X800 Cleaner include reducing agents to dissolve adhering corrosion crusts and settled debris, and powerful complexing agents that help retain dissolved corrosion debris and scale in solution. As with all Sentinel products, X800 Cleaner is non-toxic, biodegradable and completely harmless to the environment. I've been given conflicting advice about it, ranging from 1 to 3 hours to 2 weeks and I see the same said online.

But neither remove sludge. Both are chellating agents which try to get loose particles into suspension.

This cleaning agent boasts a powerful yet non-aggressive formulation that helps installers to get the job done as fast as possible - without compromising on performance. It's not. Tony is being silly! Apart from Malic Acid and colouring agents. they don't tell us what's in it. I plan to put in x800 to clean system how long should I leave it in please. I will not be using a powerflush.

Thanks again Tony, all my radiators are quite recent (apart from one), had them upgraded around 3 years ago. Hopefully they should hold. The circulation pump of the system can be used to circulate the cleaning solution; however equipment which provides a more rapid circulation can provide a more effective clean. When using an external cleaning rig, the product can be dosed directly to the buffer tank of the rig (follow equipment manufacturer’s instructions). A constant flow of water kept on coming out of the radiator that is the closet to the drain valve which confuses me as no more water is coming out of the external and only drain valve

The solution

I am also planning on cleaning the magnaclean filter, could this also be part of the root cause to my issue? I am interested to see it because everything else I have read has suggested the system should be flushed out within a few days. X400 somehow seems to lose the power to keep dirt in suspension if left much more than about five weeks.

it's not cheap for a can of "liquid", but I suppose if it's got lots of magic in it then it's quite cheap! Continues bleeding the radiators downstairs, starting with the closet to the boiler until no water or sound could be heardI usually use Sentinel x100 but Fernox range seems very similar. Have you got any preferences yourself? If a system has not been cleaned prior to use, all of the aforementioned issues for new systems will be present, with the installation debris causing issues and damage to the system. I am not recommending that anyone drinks it but I do taste a tiny amount on my finger to estimate how much acid is left. I guess as there is no maximum time and the spec. sheet suggests that it can protect against corrosion implies I can just leave it in.

When using concentrate gel, add directly to the heating system either via a radiator air bleed valve, or via the fill loop using the appropriate adaptor and a suitable caulk gun. Our detailed product safety sheets contain all the information you need to know about our chemicals, including:I spoke to Rep acouple of years ago asking why some manufactures say 2 weeks and some 1 month is the max time to leave in the system. A good cleaner is Sentinel X400, or X800 which is somewhat more aggressive. X400 can be left in the system, but will cease to loosen sludge after about 4 weeks. X800 should be circulated and the system drained and refilled several times to remove it. Fernox and Kamco are reputable makers of similar products.
