It’s lovely to be able to watch them all again so many years after watching the series when it was aired on the BBC in the 1970’s. It's based of course on James Herriot's phenomenally popular tales of a vet's life in the Dales and spawned a long-running BBC series with a different cast. Series Three brings with it big changes as James enters a new stage of his life, both with Helen and with the practice.

As the benignly despotic Farnon, a pre-Hannibal Lecter Anthony Hopkins already exudes plenty of brooding charisma.Since everything we sell is brand new and still sealed we have no way to know if an item is defective until you receive it. One season was just stuck inside the plastic case loose (the plastic case only has spaces for 6 seasons). Although the DVD's within look perfectly fine, I do like my collection to look as it should so a little disappointed this time. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data.

He soon discovers that treating the animals is as much about treating their owners, and the Dalesʼ farmers are a tough crowd to please.

Note: Our refurbished grades - Pristine, Very Good and Good - are solely based on the cosmetic condition of the phone. This television series is based on James Herriot's hugely popular autobiographical books that recount his work as a veterinarian in the villages of Yorkshire, England. Series 1: Fresh out of Glasgow Veterinary College, James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) follows his dream to become a vet in the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. The only thing that puzzles me slightly is why there are so many DVD’s- why was it not possible to put more than two episodes on each disc? When I received my DVD, first it was not within a cellophane cover and the plastic of the outer casing looked used and was dirty.

I finished watching the first three seasons for the fifth time waiting for some channel to play the other seasons after Helen Drinkwater left the series. Their adventures with the local animal populace in the incredibly beautiful pre-Second World War Dales run the gamut, from arms up cows' bottoms to tender birthing scenes, over-indulged pooches, horses with torsions and one moment which will strike a poignant note with pet owners of all ages. A good portion of medical topics, but also a taster of what seems to be very British, very dry humour. As local farmer's daughter Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton) wins James's heart he soon finds himself falling in love with more than just the Dales. We also sell a wide range of refurbished Mobile Phones and Tech from major brands like Apple, Samsung, Sony, Microsoft and much more. The Herriot novels were written in an episodic style, with each chapter generally containing a short story within the ongoing narrative of Herriot's life. It is somewhat different to the original BBC series with characters such as Mrs Hall having a more important role. It's fantastic to see my old favorites with new interviews added; I am so grateful to PBS for the chance to see it all again. Find out about the cast, delve into James Herriot’s books, watch the cast discuss their characters, and more.

The New York Times indicated that Donald Sinclair actually had more rough edges than the Siegfried character in the books (and in the TV productions). With Darrowby’s very own Tristan away serving in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, James (Nicholas Ralph – The Most Reluctant Convert) readily accepts the help of his wife Helen (Rachel Shenton – Hollyoaks) and their caring housekeeper Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley – Deadwater Fell, In Bruges), who are happy to muck in with him and Siegfried (Samuel West – Howards End), to make sure the surgery runs smoothly. By the time you've finished watching the first few episodes, you will have forgotten that you're not watching the legendary, original series and wish that this first series also had 13 episodes. Overall this may actually be an improvement on the earlier versions and for a pandemic-stressed audience the sort of pleasurable entertainment with touches of grit that is very welcome.

When local farmer's daughter Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton) attracts James' attention, he finds another, more enduring reason to stay in the Dales.
