Waking Olivia is a decent book. To be honest, it’s nothing extra-ordinary, even though the author did a great job in the narration. Blown away by this book ... on edge the whole time. Hope you all fall in love with Liv and Will like I did."-Book Lovers Down Under The words console me, momentarily. Peter McEwan thinks I'm a diamond in the rough. That's got to be worth something. The male narrator must have been drunk or bored out of his mind or.. I don't know, he maybe just wanted to go to bed to sleep..,. The only times he sounded awake were his high tones which were even more annoying. Not to mention he has this older voice which was not something I was looking for a 20 something guy's character. And what was really annoying: his parts of this recording were much lower speak of volume so I ended up turning up and down the volume between the male and female narration parts. Trust me, it gets old after 2 hours. And this one took more than 10 hours. Definetely not his fault, someone should have been paying attention to this aspect at the studio.

Elizabeth O’Roark’s writing was exceptional. The emotions in this book were so palpable and intense. I felt fear, loathing, anger, nervousness, sadness, happiness, love, hope. It was amazing and overwhelming at the same time. I felt like I was in the story! And the plot. It was so complex! Waking Olivia wasn’t just another romance. It had a darker, thriller side to it. It was so cool. I also have to throw in the fact that the running theme in this book actually worked. It’s very rare to find a book where running as part of the plot feels natural. It did here.Well, In Waking Olivia’s book, Olivia considered Will attractive, but the fact that he was an asshole to her made her ignore his good looks. She always felt disgusted anytime any of her friends and teammates daydreamed about Will. Will was a man with his reality. Throughout the story, there was a series of dumb decisions and misunderstandings that annoyed me to no end. Olivia could be very irresponsible, acting like a petulant child, and then she would drown in self-loathing. Will, well, all his inner monologues were like this

You have two years until graduation," McEwan continues, "and whether we can make something of your ability before then is entirely in his hands and yours." Will falling in love with Olivia was basically just him feeling bad for her and being sexually attracted to her. That's really it. In his perspective, he's always commenting on her body and he only really "wants" Olivia when someone else has her. I can see why some people find the jealousy thing...cute (?) but I'm quite unimpressed when that's the only reason he wants her. In my opinion, he's only jealous because another man is getting hold of his 'property' so...yeah. He also wasn't very likeable in general. The characters were fleshed out and the author took time to help the readers understand them as people and empathize with their plight both as individuals and as a potential couple. If you like hate-love stories, or student-teacher stories, or books with athletes on college this is one book that don't want to miss!!! OW/OM drama: Yes The h has a few men pursuing her that the H gets jealous of, and the H is dating someone when they meet that ends up causing drama before and after they break up.

I made a mistake taking a bat to Mark Bell, and I made a mistake coming here. Maybe staying will be the next big regret. In fact, I'm almost sure it will be." Seven words to describe Will Langstrom: Loyal, nurturing, moody, meek, responsible, conflicted and confused. She makes those annoying comments about not wanting anyone's pity when irl, when you're feeling shitty, you'd love someone to comfort you and be considerate lol. Anyway, for making all those comments, she pities herself a lot and is all woe is me, but when someone else brings up their very real issues, she does not care and is just super rude for no reason.

User Reviews:

I thought we'd established that." He's hot. Broad. Football player. I like that. A skinny runner's build does nothing for me. I just want us to consider if it had happened differently. Imagine, when he's rescuing her from a traumatic situation, he chooses to not comment on her body or sexualise her. And, imagine he just chose to, maturely, just always look her in the eye and care about how she's doing, rather than acting like a desperate man who is physically incapable of looking. I feel like something like that would be so much more romantic and considerate. I've had enough of immature, horny men. He should have broken up with his girlfriend sooner and he should have found a solution to the "coach/athlete forbidden affair" situation a solution sooner than that and then, I would have believed in his love. He was almost too late to save her life, let alone declare his love! Having said that.. his intonation was really good at least (except for the high ones) which is good thing since I have at least 2 more audiobooks I really wanna listen and he is the male narrator. Wasn't happy about that, but.. hell, his sleepy voice grew on me in the last 10 ours :).
