A pesar de que no soy fan del cliché de la pérdida de memoria, tenía una confianza absoluta en que Alyson no me decepcionaría. She gets to fall back in love with Nora even though she doesn't remember the last two years together. and going back and forth between past and present, since it felt like it added to the whole whirlwind thing I was talking about earlier.

Sometimes you start a book and you just know from the start that it will be a shining 5/5 and that it will stay with you for a long time. i felt frustrated right along with stevie as she navigated her world as a seventeen-year-old with the memory of her fifteen-year-old self. I usually hate when the breakup reason isn't revealed until much later on, but I didn't mind it in here! I appreciated the creativity of it all and loved how much both of those things played an important role in the story without it taking away from the development of the romance and the characters. I think it's also important to note that Forget Me Not explores ideologies and actions that may be triggering to some readers including homophobia, racism, abuse and manipulation.A winning lottery ticket we found in a deserted parking lot the other night and vowed to cash in once we finally get out of here at the end of summer, when we can be together. Their relationship initially began with hook-ups, and while that's completely acceptable, it did feel like there was a lack of chemistry or sexual tension between them in many instances. Some scenes had SO MUCH going on, it felt like watching a movie where everything is happening at the same time and you’re just gobbling it up. Since beginning she knew that Elliot was a guy who believes in commitments yet she kept playing him around treating him in whatever way she liked and then dumped him when he proposed.

While there is a conflict, I mean it is a second chance after all, it felt realistic and actually made sense to the plot. He helped Ama everytime he could, made sacrifices for her, and did everything he could to keep her with him.

This was an interesting book but it just supports my belief that it is hard to do a second chance romance well. Stevie and Nora are getting ready to ditch the small minds and the tiny aspirations of their small town. Derrick’s solo debut is a punch to the gut in the best way, filled with incredibly real, layered characters whose choices throughout the story feel earned. Rep: Stevie (MC) is Korean-American and lesbian, Nora (LI) is lesbian, Nick (SC) is Korean-American. stevie and nora had a plan to leave their town and families behind in exchange for a place and people that would better accept them.

This high-concept solo debut by Derrick ( She Gets the Girl) is part simmering romance, part affecting character study. if this was duo pov (rather than his pov just being in the past chapters) i’m sure i would’ve loved it more. I also understood Elliot's hesitation to Ama, but absolutely adore his continued commitment of love to her even though she rejected him in the past. i feel like amnesia is a somewhat-common fanfiction trope, but i actually can’t think of any published books with a main character who has amnesia. Also I love donuts as much as the rest of you but the amount of times the word donut is used in this book is not normal.

This may or may not stem from her upbringing and her mom’s amount of weddings, but at least Ama is self aware.

Stevie learns that she’s not as close with her mum as she used to be, and since she can’t remember why, she’s determined to get that love back.

When Stevie has a terrible fall and she finally comes to, she has forgotten the last two years, including California, coming to terms with her sexuality, and even Nora.
