The Engine House [3] was designed by Sir Marc Isambard Brunel to be part of the infrastructure of the Thames Tunnel. It held steam-powered pumps used to extract water from the tunnel. This is a good old fashioned detective story, of course police procedures are discussed but there is also a touch of whimsy due to the location & the young couple who now live in the cottage which belonged to the ‘bodies’. Through the set-up, you get to see how life in West Wales is changing, with the traditional agricultural population being joined by incomers who appreciate Wales for its beauty and sense of mystery, as opposed to the cow pats and gruff manners of the neighbouring farms.

A wander around Marazion itself is a must for those who love exploring shops. Marazion is an ancient market town with a rich history of smuggling, sea commerce and pilgrimage. Nowadays, the town has numerous galleries, gift shops and cafes along the winding streets with plenty of traditional architecture to look at along the way.

Every summer, the residents of Marazion put on a spectaular floral display from hanging baskets, window boxes and planters. Prizes are awarded for the best displays and locals compete for the award of best presented home and business property. This alone is well worth a visit. Then Allanby and Warlow get a break. Despite seven years wedged in a cliffside crevice, a DNA trace is found on one of the bodies that points to a pair of petty criminals with a history of drug dealing. One’s in prison and the other’s still out selling, and at last the police have someone to question.Highly recommended, a treat for any mystery fan, and in particular those who enjoy British detective series (my personal favorites). I can’t wait to read the next installment.
