Description

Originally published by Milton Bradley and Games Workshop (of Warhammer 40K fame), the original HeroQuest debuted in 1989. In that first game, players took on the roles of the Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf, and Wizard to explore the dungeon of the former apprentice of Mentor named Zargon (or Morcar in the UK). Their is a potion of defense which has the “crafted” keyword but no potion of dexterity with the “crafted” keyword. The heroes are just minding their own business, walking around a dungeon, all of a sudden, they open a door and encounter something they’ve never seen before! A Specter! Along with a host of other enemies that fit the apparent theme of this expansion.

The Barbarian immediately engages the Magus Guard and manages to get 2 hits on them. The Guardian Knight also engages the Magus Guard, but misses. The Elf decides to stay where she is to protect the Wizard, she casts Sleep on the Assassin closest to her. The Wizard, following the Elf’s instructions to stay put, doesn’t move. The Assassin, seeing it’s chance, swings at the Barbarian, nearly taking him out. The Barbarian is left with 1 remaining Body Point. Edit: Encarmine confirmed that Elvyler guessed the TRUE title based on the missing word in that Avalon Hill Investors meeting screenshot. Rise of the Dread Moon (not Knights at all!). Great!!A quest booklet contains 10 scripted adventures that sends a party of two to five adventurers into dangerous locales as they attempt to free Elethorn from the control of returning villain Zargon (extremely genre pulp names, both). In this quest we have a group of Heroes infiltrating a hidden Elven Armoury in the sewers beneath Elethorn. So I guess that just leaves the Barbarian without any innate ability. Does he really need one though? LOOK AT THE MUSCULARITY! Playtesting New Minions

Who could this new hero be? The speculation has begun. The consensus that I think most have agreed on so far, is that this is an alternate version of the Guardian Knight that was previously released in limited quantity. I want to thank the Avalon Hill team for their hard work and dedication to the fans and the franchise. Keep up the great work! We are really looking forward to what the future holds for HeroQuest! Finally, the last reveal, a set of cards representing potions, hopefully some new potions, and some rereleases of past potions. This creates the question, are we still going to get “Equipment” cards for the potions included in this expansion? In the past expansions, the “Alchemists Shop”, was both printed on the inside cover of the quest book, and included “Equipment” cards of the potions.HeroQuest, the revitalised dungeon-crawler board game, will cap off the first major narrative since its relaunch in 2020 with new expansion Rise of the Dread Moon. Some of us were hoping for some range with this enemy, but I almost think this is better. We already have the archer to give us range, the Assassin fills in the gap for the close range and diagonals. In between quests, or in the presence of an Alchemist’s Bench. This is interesting, now furniture finally has a purpose other than just sitting there, looking pretty. Don’t get me wrong, it still looks pretty, but it’s nice to have some interaction now.
