We know the cooler is built like a brick sh*thouse, and as long as performance is good, we can see feasibly pondering this for the masses, but we will be looking at the NH-D12L for what it is first and see if it is worthy going anywhere else. I still appreciate the fact Noctua is one of the few manufacturers that send their products in their own boxes. The round-frame type utilized on the NH-D12L delivers the same famous silent cooling performance while reducing the total cooler height without compromising compatibility with tall motherboard heatsinks or shrouds. Although the cooler is not very tall, only ~120mm from the mounting screw to the top edge, there is a gap of ~28mm between the radiator sections. It is literally a work of art, and one of the goals was to make sure that the cooling performance was not degraded in any way after this intervention.

I am still surprised Noctua is still not packing their newer NT-H2 thermal paste, as it should just be included by default while the older one can be phased out or sold separately. However, taking into account the design, already at this stage it is possible to “assume” that the additional fan, will add very little, if any. My current case only has 155mm of CPU cooler clearance, essentially ruling out every high end Noctua air cooler besides the NH-D12L. At first glance, it’s clear that the NH-D12L is similar to Noctua’s common NH-D15/NH-D15S dual-tower design. The back of the box explains why this cooler came about, its strengths and compatibility, and is essentially a carbon copy of their introduction on the product page.

On the outer edge of overclocking with more voltage, here you can tell it has a bit less cooling capacity, but even then managed to impress us.

The can't-miss color scheme of tan and brown may not be to everyone's taste, but continues to be a hallmark of the brand. I would like to note that the fastening is convenient, the pressure is strong, no metal elements scratch the board. It has an rpm range of 450-2000, but remember Noctua includes the NA-RC14 low-noise adapter if you wanted to keep things quieter at 1700rpm. However, this modified fan has atypical mounting holes and therefore cannot be used in the normal 100 mm position on a radiator and/or in a case.Noctua NH-D12L is notable for its small height, only 145 mm in total while supporting standard 120 mm fans. To secure this to the motherboard, you will need the factory backplate and swap to the screws provided in the center of this image. Noctua has also included a long L-shaped Philips head screwdriver, a Y-fan splitter, two low noise adapters, and a tube of their NT-H1 thermal paste.

As well, this was not on their roadmap to my knowledge, but this should not take anything away from the NH-D12L. New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . There is a smaller aluminum chunk there, just enough for Noctua to mount the SecuFirm2 cross-bar to the top of the base. gram tube of excellent proprietary thermal paste is really pleasing, which is enough for about 10 applications. In the performance rating, the compact air cooler only loses just under one percent to the significantly more powerful Noctua NH-D15. Unfortunately, mainboard manufacturers tend to change certain components and heatsinks without pointing it out by using corresponding revision names.

Thanks to its single-fan configuration and asymmetrical fin stacks, the NH-D12L provides 100% RAM compatibility on AMD AM4/AM5 and LGA1700/1200 by staying clear of the memory slots.

With the Noctua NH-D12L, we have another cooler in review and examine how well it copes with the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X. Topped off with Noctua's NT-H1 thermal compound, a 6-year manufacturer's warranty, and the famed SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system that already supports Intel's latest LGA1700 socket as well as AMD's upcoming AM5 platform, the NH-D12L is the perfect choice for situations that require serious cooling performance but cannot fit the larger NH-U12A. This makes it an ideal cooling solution for smaller cases, but also for servers with a height of 4U. Today, we have the Noctua NH-D12L, a new 120mm based air cooler with an emphasis on a lower height clearance despite a dual-tower design. It is something most PC enthusiasts will recognize by just a quick glance, and that awareness paired with the knowledge that they offer some of the best warranty and after-sales support of any PC-cooling company means they remain a quintessential enthusiast favorite.
