So, I guess that as expected I am stepping up from what I originally wanted to get, let's see where this takes me DALI Oberon 3 looks impressively and respectably. The oak finish of the bodies (assembled from MDF panels of increased density with an internal damper) is perfect - the decor realistically imitates not only the color and texture of real wood, but also does not seem artificial to the touch, because it conveys the characteristic roughness of natural material. Dustproof nets on magnetic mounts also look very fashionable. This is just one of the four finishes invented for the entire Oberon series. Others are more classical. Contemporary design — The rounded edges and grille fabric add a lighter and more contemporary look. Almost the entire width of a 20-centimeter front panel is occupied by mid-woofers enlarged to seven inches, and such a caliber is not often found in the available speakers. A tweeter with a soft fabric dome is also expensive and stylish.

What I want is a level of quality that portrays the sounds of the instruments and performers accurately. I don't want my listening to be disturbed by failings in the equipment. And cables, I've read all this about cables doing nothing which may be true for loudspeakers but I'm not sure. The oversized 29 mm ultra-lightweight soft dome tweeter was specifically developed for the Oberon series, combining well-proven technologies from our existing Dali speakers with new features. The large size of the membrane lets the tweeter generate higher sound pressure with less excursion, keeping the voice-coil motion to a controlled minimum. The tweeter front plate near the dome has been designed with similar geometry to the Opticon and Rubicon tweeters to create the optimal working conditions for the soft dome. This results in extended frequency response, wide dispersion and low colouration. Optimised Cabinet Bass does not resolve as deep as the Elac Debut B6. White colour option requires careful handling. Nothing else at this price point.The cabinet construction of the Oberon 3 is composed of high-density CNC machined MDF board - dressed in carefully selected high-grade vinyl. The very rigid construction of the Oberon 3 cabinet is due to solid bracings across the inside of the cabinet for reinforcement. This improves the stiffness and practically eliminates resonance within the cabinet. The rounded edges and rustic fabric of these new DALI front grilles add a lighter and more contemporary visual look to the OBERON series. This look is enhanced by the elegantly shaped aluminium base mounted on the two floor-standing models. PATENTED SMC My listening room is a barn which makes it a large room to fill with sound: overall dimensions run roughly 35’ x 45’ with 12’ ceilings, while the actual listening area divides that width in half. Among the first of many surprises from the relatively diminutive DALIs was their ability to do a convincing job of filling this listening space with sweet, liquid, music. I placed the Oberon 3 where all of the loudspeakers I listen to live, roughly 6’ from the front wall and more than 4’ from the side ‘walls’ where the sound image they threw into the room extended well beyond the loudspeakers in every dimension. They sounded BIG.
