It also introduces kids to the concepts of kindness, diversity, and inclusion, which are essential for comprehension of the nature of friendship. Since I can't otherwise elaborate what my problems with the book were, I'll have to give away plot elements, so read further at your own risk. I also don't think the argument that he shows his true colors in the end is supportable, since Dany only seems to get that he's evil when he starts destroying her school and hurting innocent people.

Recasting Dog Man and his feline ward, Li’l Petey, as costumed superheroes, Pilkey looks East of Eden in this follow-up to Tale of Two Kitties (2017). She even finds herself a family, not through magic like Dany offers to do for her, but by being placed with foster parents and becoming a part of their family.I loved the cast of characters and a few of them came from diverse backgrounds (black, Guatemalan, Asian, etc). Making Friends, by Kristen Gudsnuk, is an all-ages comic book about a young girl who’s struggling with the transition from grade school to Jr. What was most troubling about this graphic novel is that it appears to want to tackle some tough topics, but then just brushes them off. She wants to keep him around and secret so she carries him in her backpack and keeps him in her locker. G becomes suspicious when the new girl at school knows a little too much about the theft of Mrs Robinson's purse and grows close to her Best Friend Layla.

The super funny, heart-warming adventure of three boys, one summer holiday and a few miracles along the way, from award-winning author Jenny Pearson. It is full of magic, making friends (which isn't easy to do), imagination, and finding a place to belong. When she rejects him and he goes on a rampage during a school pep rally, Danielle and Madison have to set aside their differences to stop him! I saw a glimmer of something there, but the book simply took too many bizarre turns and the narrative wasn't nearly tight enough to redeem it. Tween readers who love graphic novels will enjoy the Making Friends books, as well as any reader who loves books about the trials of middle school, friendships and magic. The main character was not very likable and most of the story revolved around a fictional TV show that the reader has never seen, so it is confusing to the reader what is happening.

Then one day, Dany tunes in to the new hit TV show My Magical Best Friend, and it’s starring her magical best friend, Madison! In the beginning of the story, readers see Danny acquire a sketchbook after a family member passes away. On a more superficial level, there were also a lot of pop culture parodied in this comic that were things that I loved when I was a kid. Twelve year old Billie watches a plane crash from the sky and is left wondering whether the pilot survived? With Madison by her side, Dany is happy again but what will happen if Madison discovers the truth about where she comes from and will Prince Neptune shows his true colors? She and Madison are still best friends, she still has her magic sketchbook, and the new school year is looking up. This book has made a massive positive impact on my social life and it’s still the top-recommended book on social skills despite being written in the 1930s. As an adult reader there were a few jokes that seemed more appropriate for me than a middle grade audience. Left with only enough inheritance to patch and repair the exterior of the house—and with the school’s dismal standardized test scores as a final straw—Greg’s mom steers the family toward moving, opening up house-hunting and house-selling storylines (and devastating loyal Rowley, who doesn’t want to lose his best friend).

Unfortunately, her friends are in a different school cluster and she's forced to start this new school by herself without any friends.

Soon she begins to use the sketchbook and finds that whatever she draws in the sketchbook "comes to life.
