That said, with AB-InBev’s marketing budget behind it, Zero could help raise the profile of low alcoholic beer in general. Now Budweiser has released a “new” version of “Prohibition”, this time more simply named Budweiser “Zero”. Budweiser’s owner AB-InBev wants 20% of its beer to be alcohol-free by 2025. I wasn’t convinced Prohibition was going to help it reach that goal and I feel the same with Zero, despite the new recipe. If you enjoy Bud Light and are looking for a flavor substitute without the alcohol, this is it. While I prefer a more bitter flavor, Budweiser Zero is actually not bad for a light beer. When prohibition hit in the US in 1920, Budweiser’s parent brewery Anheuser-Busch decided to concentrate on selling brewer’s yeast, malt extract, ice cream and the curiously named “Bevo” drink.

In contrast to some other non-alcoholic beers, Bud Zero does not contain any alcohol. Additionally, non-alcoholic beer has been shown to have several health benefits. With this in mind, Budweiser Zero is a perfectly appropriate beverage to consume in moderation during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. I found a few mixed opinions while doing the research. Most people said it tastes just like regular Budweiser, while a small percentage thought it was watered down or bland. Overall, the majority of people seem to really enjoy Budweiser Zero and say it tastes just like a normal Budweiser but without the alcohol. I agree that the similarities are impressive. Alcohol Free Brew: How it’s Made Budweiser states that it is using the latest technology to brew Bud Zero. However, they have not disclosed their methods of brewing. The beer’s ingredients include barley, rice, hops, and water, as well as “natural flavors.”There’s no hop or malt extracts in Zero. These featured in the ingredients in Prohibition. Calories, carbs and sugar Bevo was a non-alcoholic malt drink or “near beer” that came in under 0.5% ABV to get around the laws of the time. It fell out of favour in the late 20s when everyone was allowed to get drunk again. The downside to BZ I’ve found, is availability. No surprise that it is not carried in most smaller retail outlets or even the larger chain supermarkets you might frequent, so buying it in larger quantities off the floor (warm) is advisable when possible if you want to keep some on-hand without having a dedicated beer fridge. But if you do have the latter, be sure to adjust the thermostat to compensate the absence of anti-freeze. I like to keep mine set just above the freezing point for standard beer, which renders BZ somewhat of a slush puppy after a few hours. Prohibition was brewed to the same recipe as the alcoholic version. The brewery removed the alcohol in by heating the beer in a vacuum. It also used a brewing process that stops all of the malt fermenting. A distinction worth noting. Lots of beers that are labelled as non-alcoholic in fact do contain very small amounts of alcohol, usually to the tune of 0.5%. You’d have to drink insanely large amounts to even feel remotely tipsy, so if that’s what you want to avoid, you’ll be fine drinking these. But if – perhaps for religious reasons – you don’t want any alcohol to pass your lips, seek out the 0.0% beers. (By that logic, you may want to reconsider drinking orange juice or putting vinegar on your chips, though – they can contain 0.5% and 0.2% alcohol respectively.) We’ve divided them into two categories below. Are you old enough to (not) drink?

Currently, the top-selling non-alcoholic beer in the United States is Heineken 0.0, according to Nielsen. The Dutch brewer launched the booze-free product in the US last year following years of strong sales in Europe. Heineken called its US launch a “success” earlier this year and said it’s delivering double-digit growth to its low- and no-alcohol beer unit. Budweiser is an American beer company that was founded in 1876. It’s now owned by Anheuser-Busch, or AB InBev, one of the largest brewing companies in the world. Budweiser makes a range of beers, with the most commonly known Bud Light and Budweiser. Budweiser Zero: Alcohol Free Beer While I do not recommend Budweiser Zero as the best tasting na beer on the market, it might still be for you. For instance, if you like Bud Light and are looking to skip the alcohol, Budweiser Zero will be a familiar place to start. Budweiser Zero is a light beer that contains fewer calories than Budweiser and Bud Light. Interestingly, it contains twice as many carbs as Bud Light. Budweiser has come up with a new recipe for Budweiser Zero and teamed up with former NBA star Dwayne Wade to design and promote it.Bud Zero is an integral part of Anheuser-Bush’s portfolio strategy, which is flooding consumers with different options — a technique it has pursued by creating multiple spiked seltzer companies, including Bud Light Seltzer, Bon & Viv and Natural Light Seltzer. You don’t always want to walk away being hungover or with a buzz,” Wade said. “I loved the idea of being part of the conversation without having to drink alcohol.” The basketball player added that he’s often the designated driver for his family and friends. The drink is free from any animal products or derivatives. In addition the bottle, label and glue is also free from animal products. As defined by governmental guidelines ow sugar means the drink contains less than 2.5g of sugar per 100mls. Products with a higher sugar content cause a spike in insulin and we react by storing more carbs as fat. You may also notice that although lower in sugar there is some carbs, this is usually more complex forms of sugar such as starches and fibre and the body uses these for energy.
