ACTRA Toronto (18 January 2017). "The 15th Annual ACTRA Awards in Toronto nominees". CNW Group. Archived from the original on 30 April 2017 . Retrieved 30 April 2017. The film's wider Canadian theatrical release took place on 14 April 2017 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver. [16] Plans were made for it to screen all weekend in Halifax, during which the newly found painting Portrait of Eddie Barnes and Ed Murphy, Lobster Fishermen, Bay View, N.S. would be on temporary exhibit in the Scotiabank Maud Lewis Gallery located at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. [9] It subsequently opened in Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal, Victoria, British Columbia and Winnipeg on 21 April. [16] Sony Pictures Classics acquired the rights to distribute the film in the U.S. for 16 June. [11] On 27 April, it was showing on 30 screens, half of which were in Atlantic Canada, while Mongrel Media planned releases in the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Japan by the end of 2017. [24] Reception [ edit ] Box office [ edit ] This is a wild ride! I think part of the reason I liked this story was that I was in the perfect mood for it. I don't think this is one that would stand up to much analysis, but since I was in the zone to just be entertained and go with it and not have to think too hard, it was an ideal experience. And that’s when things get murky and more complicated. While the parents arrange the funeral Molly goes into research mode to dissect every aspect of her sister’s life. Because she isn’t just dead, she has been murdered. There are a few suspects to choose from and Molly goes full on stalker to get close to them. Might she want to punish them for any perceived harm they caused her sister?

Don’t be lulled by the synopsis of yet another twin story. If you love scheming characters and subterfuge like I do, this may be your book! If you love in-the-moment action, vivid descriptions of New York City and crazy scenarios, this may also be your book.a b c Staff (11 April 2017). Being in Molly's head made me exhausted at times. All her inner thoughts, research, and helping the police investigate. She was a mess! Dargis, Manohla (15 June 2017). My parents: Paul and Elizabeth Raven. Good people. Caring and straightforward and down-to-earth. Honest, mostly. Mum is, at least. Next to that is a photo of me, Molly Raven, and my monozygotic twin, Katie, or as I call her, KT. I don't use the term 'identical twin' because it's a blatant lie. A travesty. Our base DNA is identical, sure, but that's about all that is.

At the 2016 Vancouver International Film Festival, where Maudie was the opening gala, [20] it won the Super Channel People's Choice Award, the top audience award at the festival for feature films. [42] [43] At the 6th Canadian Screen Awards, it received seven nominations, among the five films to receive the most nominations with eight or seven each. [44] Award It was interesting to learn about Molly and her anxieties. It has to be so hard living a life in fear all the time. Exhausting really! Then the story changes. I won't say how it changes but we get big changes. That's where the story lost me, what we learn from that point on is full of the unbelievable and the impossible. From the beginning of the story I didn't like Molly, she felt like an abrasive character who could never be happy. The second half of the story just made me like her less so it was hard to care what happened next. I'm really not saying what I want to say but it can't be said without revealing all that hasn't been revealed. Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Comedy Series - Bea Arthur For playing: "Maude Findlay" (Nominated)

In fact, she’s overly thoughtful to the point of being neurotic. A sort of doomsday prepper, she consistently weighs the lesser of many evils that would never register with most people. If you are an anxious traveller, maybe don’t read this immediately before commencing your trip. It’ll have you considering things you probably wouldn’t have given a single thought until Molly put the bee in your bonnet. I’ll be going on my own trip to NYC soon, and now thanks to Molly, I’m a wee bit paranoid. I kid. I think? Bennett, Paul W. (2 June 2017). "Finding a Muse in Maud Lewis". The Chronicle Herald. p.D1-D3. Archived from the original on 26 August 2017 . Retrieved 25 August 2017.And, finally, like the best experiments (I will be recommending this to you, Troy), this is a fine and punchy story in its own right, a teen pushing through through the motel-studded veneer of the american landscape and into the unmarred enormity of its desertlands, juxtaposed against the legacy of Los Alamos. "Lying under the Meteor's headlights was the body of a humanity that did not know Arizona. Humanity was fragile because it did not suspect Arizona's existence."
