As kids begin to age, they do better with board games that present more of a challenge. Look for strategy games that improve STEM skills. These include games that require players to conquer a sequence of spaces, whether on a board or a vertical grid. Trivia games are also ideal for this age group. You’ll find both card and DVD trivia games on the market. In addition to family game night, board games are a great tool to break the ice when meeting new people. They can be used by kids at a sleepover, in a classroom to encourage strategic play or on vacation as a way to unwind from work and school. While Disney Eye Found It! Hidden Picture Card Game is still far from a perfect game, I think it is a considerable improvement over the original game. This is mostly due to the fact that it focuses on what the original game did best while getting rid of everything that didn’t add to the experience. Searching for the objects is fun. Spinning a spinner and moving the corresponding number of spaces is not fun. I have always enjoyed this find the hidden object gameplay, and it holds up pretty well in the card game.Board games can also be used to teach younger children important life lessons. Kids will need to learn how to follow rules, take turns and practice humility whether winning or losing when playing board games. Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are also improved, as little ones work on moving their pieces around the board. So, besides the enormously long 6-foot board [which comes in three sections, not one huuuuge piece], in the box is:

If Disney Eye Found It! solely focused on this mechanic, possibly adding some other mechanics to further support it, I think it could have been a pretty good game. The problem is that outside of the searching mechanics there is very little to the game. Basically the rest of the game is a very basic spin and move game. You spin the spinner and move the corresponding number of spaces. The game has some branching pathways and shortcuts that add a few decisions to the game but otherwise there isn’t much to the game. These mechanics are just really boring. This is a shame because you spend most of the game with the spin and move mechanics instead of the much superior search mechanics. Disney Eye Fount It! basically feels like a spin and move with an occasional mini game where you find objects. All of the players have reached the finish line so they have won the game. My Thoughts on Disney Eye Found It! Items that are not available in store will take 3-5 working days (excluding weekends and bank holidays) to be delivered to your nominated store. To do a search, the timer will be flipped then the word will be read out loud to all players. Players will search the board looking for pictures that fit with the word in some way. When they find one, they will place one of the plastic markers over it. Players have till the timer runs out to find as many pictures as they can. When the timer is finished the number of found pictures is counted and players move their characters forward an equal number of spaces. As an exhausted mom to 3 beautiful boys aged 5-11, Keep Up With the Jones Family began as a family blog and turned into my passion.Initially, I thought that because nothing changes about the board with each game, that it would be easy to find the little pictures and the game would become boring very fast – but there are over 1,000 of them to find and remembering where that many are is pretty hard, even for a super brain like Gav. Ha ha.

This is honestly the main reason I was intrigued by Disney Eye Found It! Hidden Picture Card Game even though I didn’t really like the original game. Instead of wasting time with a very basic spin and move mechanic, the game gets right into what is most important. The game basically focuses entirely on the searching mechanic taking out all of the other mechanics that bogged down the original game. She was given this game as a gift several months ago and we still play DAILY. She can't get enough of it. And because there are so many cards and so many things to find on the board we are still finding new items every time we play. Develops critical skills – Perfect for pre-readers and early readers, builds language and matching skills in preschool kids through fun, fast-paced play. Zingo is as popular in the classroom with teachers as it is in the home with families!Trusted by Families Worldwide - With over 50 million sold, ThinkFun is the world's leading manufacturer of brain games and mind challenging puzzles. They're based in convenient locations including supermarkets, newsagents and train stations. Plus they're often open late and on Sundays. When moving you may come to branches in the path. A player may choose which path they wish to take whenever this occurs. There are also shortcuts a player may land on. If a player lands on the exact spot of a short cut, they may take it to move to the adjoining spot.

I play this game with my 4 year old and she LOVES it. A lot of the "cons" in this list are actually "pros" for a 4 year old. The spinning wheel mechanic is fun and exciting for a 4 year old. Online prices and sale effective dates may differ from those in-store and may vary by region. Dealers may sell for less. Before electronics were so readily available, families spent rainy days inside playing board games. There are a number of benefits associated with playing these games, which is why they are still an excellent choice for passing time.

Gav and I are really excited this Christmas – because at last, at long last [okay, after seven years] we are finally able to play board games properly as a family. Okay, so Hero isn’t old enough to understand what’s going on in them completely yet, but he can throw the die, move counters and most importantly, watch out for sneaky cheaters. Haha.
