Nala’s World is an exceptional memoir by Dean Nicholson, and with much more of their journey still ahead of them, I hope there will be another book giving readers and fans further insight into their adventures. Anyway, all that to say that I'd have enjoyed this book more, I feel, if the author weren't an Instagram-star, dependent on an Instagram following. Knowing there are people out there like Dean, who raised money for charity with the huge amount of interest shown on social media, of his adventures, gives humanity hope!

A heart warming story, with the classic "who saved who" theme as Dean admits straight up that she made him a better person. Complications with passports, the agony of watching over a kitten being neutered, taking a cat on a kayak and a whole lot more adventures worth reading about. The video of his rescue went viral when it was picked up by The Dodo, and the pair became an internet sensation.

During COVID times when travel is discouraged, I was able to journey with Dean Nicholson and Nala through Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary (one place that I actually really have been) and these two could not have been better companions. Both curious, independent, resilient and adventurous, they were a perfect match - and so together, they set off to travel around the world. I don't know why I hadn't heard of them before reading this book, but you better bet I'm going to keep up with it now. This wasn’t only a test of physical endurance, it was also an attempt to escape the daily routine and to find fresh purpose in his life: “I hit the road to find a road. I was one of the people who subscribed to his Instagram after watching a Dodo video and by that time his account was a few years old already, so it was nice to be able to catch up with him via this book of his adventures prior to my following him.
