Description

Material: The Kamado Joe Classic II is made from ceramic and stainless steel. This helps it retain heat and cook food thoroughly and evenly without burning it like some cheaper grills would do. Being versatile is not the same as being easy. There’s a lot you can do with a Kamado, but if you’re used to more conventional grilling, there is going to be a learning period while you master all the nuances of the equipment. The top vent on a kamado performs the critical function of controlling airflow (in conjunction with the bottom vent) and allowing smoke to escape the chamber.

Heat retention - ceramic Kamado Joe BBQs have a thermal mass that soaks up heat and holds it for a long time. The major advantage of this design is temperature stability that outclasses thin metal grills. Kamado grills take their name from the term used to describe a traditional Japanese wood or charcoal fueled cooking appliance called a kamado. A traditional kamado was made from clay or other ceramic material to create a large urn or "egg" like vessel, similar to a tandoor, whose round shape and heavy construction allowed unique cooking benefits. While the Classic I and II are very similar in terms of chamber built, there are some key differences in the design of their smoking vents, as well as their gasket, lid and firebox. A table stand which allows you to place your cooker directly onto any surface without the need of purchasing wheels. With the rust-resistant latch, there’s no guessing whether the lid is down or not. AMP Firebox: The Kamado Joe Classic II is the only grill on the market that comes with an AMP firebox, which gives you high heat output while still being incredibly easy to use. The flange design lets this product produce more heat than others but doesn’t take up any additional space in your cooking area. The best thing about having a flanged grill is that you can cook for longer periods of time without excess heat getting in the way. Cooking Area: Cookers vary in size and the classic 1 has a cooking surface of around 215 inches squared. This means you can cook for up to 16-20 people at once, depending on whether they are willing to share with each other. The Kamado Joe Classic 1 is the original Kamado Joe grill, while the Classic 2 is the newer model. Both grills are made of ceramic and designed for outdoor cooking. The Classic 1 has a 18-inch diameter cooking surface, while the Classic 2 has a 20-inch diameter cooking surface. The Classic 2 also has some additional features, such as a larger smoking chamber and a built-in Ash Catcher. Both grills come with a lifetime warranty. From theirearliest days, theirfocus was on solving problems others hadn’t or couldn’t so that people could get more out of grilling. Theydon’t settle. It’s a commitment that’s clear in everything from the features of theirflagship grills to the size of theirmassive lump charcoal. The tomahawk steaks in the picture above were seared and then slow cooked on the Kamado Joe Classic I.

Temperatures aren’t as easy to control as they could be since there is no air intake hole at the bottom for better airflow between charcoal and grate. Conclusion on Kamado Joe Classic 1 vs 2 The best way to determine whether the Kamado Joe classic 2 is right for you is by thinking about your personal preferences and what you want to get out of smoking meat. If you like making a lot of food and entertaining a large group of people at once, then this grill will be perfect for you. On the other hand, if you only plan on cooking enough food for small groups, then it’s probably better to go with the classic 1. Pros and Cons of kamado joe classic 1 and 2: Kamado Joe BBQs are incredibly fuel efficient. The heavy ceramic sides retain heat well, meaning very little charcoal and oxygen are necessary for fuel. Perfect for low, slow cooked meats or diehard winter grillers. Versatile Cooking Methods This isn’t the only upgrade the Classic has seen however. Kamado Joe’s patented ‘Air Lift Hinge’ system has also been given a makeover, and is now easier to lift without any compromise to its structural integrity.

Kamado Joe BBQs offer a range of ceramic grills that impart a rich, smoky flavour to meat, fish and vegetables. Their innovative design is inspired by the kamado, an ancient, Asian style grill, which worked by air flowing through the grill's ceramic body and out from its vented dome. Kamado Joe is proud to draw on that tradition, while modernising the grill’s classic style with unparalleled craftsmanship, innovative accessories and a range of flexible cooking surfaces. Since designing their very first Classic barbecue, they have developed their range to include various sizes and new technology.

More From Smokers

Kamado grills are versatile, designed for multiple cooking methods. Accessories like the ceramic heat deflector turn a direct grill into an indirect cooker. Firebox dividers can create two cooking zones. With the right accessories and setup, a kamado grill can bake, roast, smoke, sear, saute, grill, and much more. The top vent has been given an upgrade, with it now being made with powder-coated cast aluminum. This makes it better at withstanding the elements, and is now mold and water-resistant for easier cleaning. Style –Kamado Joe is proud to draw on the long standing kamado tradition, modernizing the grill’s classic style with unparalleled craftsmanship. The Classic II is one of several ceramic kamados produced by Kamado Joe, and it’s the one with the broadest appeal.
