Description

Dab the shoes with a clean towel to remove any excess moisture and leave it to air dry, avoiding direct sunlight or heaters. Once dry, apply a water and stain repellent spray on the shoe. Unlike the original series, both the 550 and 585 Classics have about 0.9mm of interior leather lining which adds comfort and keeps you warm. If after trying on the boots you find that they are a bit big but not enough to warrant dropping down a size, you can lift up the footbed of the boots and insert a thin insole underneath. This will give a snugger fit.

You should use a leather conditioner on your boots whenever they need them. If your boots are looking a little scuffed and worn, always remember to use a conditioner. Still, I slipped them on and thought, these are Ugg boots masquerading as something a little less frumpy, a little less embarrassing (for me). The shearling lining on the insole offers the same effect of walking on a pillow or a cloud, but this was a pair of boots I could stand to be caught dead in. The insole in the Blundstone 550 is underwhelming—it’s a thin piece of perforated foam and has an added high density foam pad in the heel.

Classics For A Reason

Please refer to our Size Guide for further information or call us for advice, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday on 0800 132 194. Avoid exposing your boots to chemical contamination. Solvents, strong acids and alkalis will do irreparable damage on leather, whilst commonplace substances like milk and salt are also highly damaging. In the event of exposure, clean the boots immediately.

I have some alternatives below that solve these issues, but there’s a big caveat: Blundstone boots have a specific shape to them that I haven’t found elsewhere. They look pretty cool, and they’re trendy and popular. I've been a Doc Marten person for as long as I can remember, but I never really loved the look of the brand's Chelsea boots. So when my colleague Sally Kaplan told me about these Blundstones, I was almost immediately smitten. I got them in rustic brown, and I haven't really taken them off since. You are comfortable all day long as well due to the Xtreme comfort EVA footbeds and XRD™ Technology in the heel and front of the soles. An easy to pull on work boot with elastic gussets and finger loop pull tabs. Available in Brown Leather. There’s no difference between the Classic 550 and the Super 550 other than the name. So you don’t need to go hunting a super version down like I did for 10 minutes. Things to Consider Before Buying Blundstone 550 Boots One of the best-selling Blundstone boots, the 500 design is made from quality premium leather. A classic pull-on Chelsea boot with elastic side panels to make this effortless. These lightweight boots have PU/TPU rubber outsole with removable insoles. Available in Stout Brown leather.

Both the Blundstone 550 and 585 are part of the Blundstone Classics, which is an upgrade over the original series with the addition of more comfort features. To clean the full-grain leather of Blundstone 550, first, remove any caked dirt on your boots with a soft bristled brush or a damp cloth. Once brushed, leave it to air dry while avoiding direct sunlight, which will dry out the leather. Leather is considered a renewable material, and we currently source 95% of our leather from sustainably certified tanneries. We also choose to be a member of the Leather Working Group for a range of reasons, the key being access to their environmental assessment tools, audit protocol and rating system, and third party services. Blundstone boots typically have a loose fit. There should be roughly 1cm width of space from your toes to the top of the boots. If the front of your foot is touching the boot, they’re too small.

Blundstone Black Premium Leather V-Cut Boots #510

When Blundstone first released the 550, they called it the Super 550. But a few years in, they changed the name to the Classic 550. Not only are the upper of both the Blundstone 550 and 585 waterproof, but the outsoles have more than enough grip to help you to navigate wet or slushy surfaces in the winter.

Originally the 500 Chelsea boot’s appearance and durability appealed to farmers, builders, and manual laborers who worked on their feet all day. Over time, the 500 started to become a staple for adventurers, creatives, and fashionistas all over the world. Additionally, both the Blundstone 550 and 585 have a steel shank between the forefoot and heel that helps you maintain the correct step flex point and assists with skeletal stability. Always store your boots in a well ventilated, cool place away from sunlight or any heat which will tarnish the leather. Also, with a Goodyear welt, you get a lot more water resistance, and you have the option to resole the boot in a few years time when the heel eventually wears down.If there are any scuffs, remove them with a gum eraser. Simply rub the scuff with the eraser and wipe away the rubber debris. Dampen a suede brush with water and put a small amount of suede and leather cleaner on it and clean the shoe, as detailed above in the ‘Cleaning Leather’ section.
