It reminded me of watching Dora when I was younger, how I’d cheer on characters with her, or count to accomplish a mission. Thanks to Britta, despite Leon’s luminescence, he maintains an expression of utter dejection throughout most of the book. Indeed, as I mentioned in my review of Leap Frog, they remind me of the classic pictures by Eric Carle in the internationally acclaimed The Very Hungry Caterpillar or, less well-known, The Bad-Tempered Ladybird. This book is about a neon chameleon who doesn't fit in because he is orange whereas the rest of the chameleons blend in and are all the same color. I read this book with a year 1 class on placement and they all enjoyed joining in with helping Leon the chameleon fit in!

Ben’s one, and one Spring afternoon while the kids played in the garden, I heard what I assumed were the hoarse barking sounds of foxes mating.Born in Hamburg, Britta grew up in Germany before moving to London in 1988 to study illustration and fine art at St Martin's College and the Royal College of Art. In a second picture book, a maladapted chameleon is stuck in a predicament that brings to mind Raymond Chandler’s brilliant line about a fellow looking “about as inconspicuous as a tarantula on a slice of angel food cake. In 1979, Neon Leon was a part of the Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen scandal when he and his then girlfriend were living in the same hotel as the punk couple and was socializing with Sid and Nancy the night when she was stabbed to death by Sid (because of Sid's death shortly after Nancy's death there seems not to be 100% clarity about what happened that night, there are several theories about the murder). The Tory is told in an interactive way, getting the child to participate in the story and the drawings are striking.

A fantastic interactive book with opportunities for children to immerse themselves fully into the story. The Neon Leon debut album was released in 1983 (funded by Mick Jagger) as a Swedish-only LP but featured Blondie’s Clem Burke as well as notorious KBD star Snuky Tate, and showcases a sold late 70’s Stones vibe perfectly ripe for radio consumption, in a better world, that is… fast forward to the 21st century and Leon still holds it down in Germany these days, still performs occasionally, and we’re extremely proud to finally get these 70s-80s era recordings back into circulation, so make sure to check out both of Neon Leon’s books (Fast Track to Hell and New York City Babylon) crank it up, and don’t ever look back! Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example. Very bright and colourful, this is a great interactive picture book that encourages it's readers to count to ten, whisper, guess colours and spot the chameleons on each page. while living in the UK in the early 70s, he was recording acetates as far back as the mid 1970s with the original members of Pure Hell around Philadelphia, and ended up moving into the Chelsea Hotel in ’73 soon after, upon the insistence of his pal Johnny Thunders. At the club Bad News he met the record company owner Sanyi Tandan who offered him a recording contract and later released the successful single "Movin In The Right Direction" and later the album Artificial Stimulation (1983) with his group Neon Leon And The Bondage Babies. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! The tracks collected on the digital compilation from Hozac capture a wild musician straddling punk, glam and 70s rock. Her first book, Blue Planet II, is part of a major new children’s non-fiction series in collaboration with BBC Earth and published by Puffin.
