Description

The extent of Smart Meter data you can see, how soon you can see it and its granularity depends on whether you have a CAD or not.

Firstly, what is the ivie Bud exactly? Well, it’s a Chameleon IHD that’s branded as being ivie as part of this new venture Chameleon are working on. Physically the ivie Bud looks very much like the existing IHD6 and it basically is - except that it’s actually a re-badged Chameleon IHD7-CAD-PPMID v1.2. More on that later. Four hours in, I finally get to play with the device properly, but unfortunately this was short lived and I’ll explain why further down. The short version is that from my hour or two of using the ivie Bud, it was ultimately no different to the IHD6 other than having a built-in temperature sensor and no battery. If you already know how the IHD6 works, then you know how the ivie Bud works. As with every diverse community, there is always a mixture of opinions, knowledge as well as understanding - that’s what makes it such a great place to be! To make sure everyone gets the most out of our Community and feels good doing it, we’ve created some values below on how to be an awesome, positive member. So, take a read and then go for it! I could not activate it on https://ivie.co.uk/activate. The House number+postcode fails for me (3 flats/meters in the house maybe), and they won’t support the MPAN method. Going through Smarthing android app, creating the chameleon account with the MPAN, and associating the Ivie bud made the association possible. And to be totally fair, based on the response from the ivie team, they do care about customer service. It may be possible in the future according to one of my sources. They prefer not to be named but they’re a very reliable one.

Depending on the Communications Service Provider, which varies by areas of the UK, the radio technology can change depending on what works best in a local area. Sometimes your comms hub will communicate directly with DCC and sometimes it will talk through other comms hubs around you to reach a particular comms hub which has direct communications with DCC. This form of communications looks like a mesh when you draw out the possible links between meters and is therefore known as a Mesh network. https://chameleontechnology.co.uk/2021/10/18/samsung-launches-smartthings-energy-powered-by-chameleon-technology/ Loop Energy is the name of an App provided free of charge by Trust Power Limited for smart phones that allows you to monitor your electricity and gas energy consumption.

Every 30 minutes the gas meter sends data to the communication hub over the HAN (Home Area Network). Beauty Advent calendars are significantly pricier than chocolate ones, but they've become increasingly popular in the last few years as a way of bagging beauty products at a fraction of the normal cost. They often sell out early, but can also be heavily discounted later if they don't, so here's a round-up of some of the best I’ve seen.

It feels to me like it would have been better for Chameleon to delay launching the device until they had more features ready. MQTT (MQ Telemetry Transport - where MQ is a product) is the standard messaging protocol for the IoT (Internet of Things). It is a extremely simple and lightweight messaging protocol, designed for constrained devices, low power, and low-bandwidth, high-latency or unreliable networks. By helping households be more aware of their energy consumption and encourage positive behaviours to reduce energy usage, SmartThings Energy offers a category-defining energy saving service for everyone, irrespective of who their energy provider is.” Live data, coming soon, will drive benefits of SmartThings Energy even further Thanks shedman and rogerc446. I wasn't aware there were 'after-market' type IHDs so I'll look into them. Thanks again. If the big selling point of smart meters to consumers is that with the IHD, they can see their usage, real times costs etc and hopefully reduce their usage ... wouldn't it be logical in the event of a failure to replace the IHD free of charge? If I could change my gas meter (EDMI GS-60B) to change to a kWh display instead of cubic meters it might solve the problem. Anyone know if this is possible?
