However, you naturally don't get as much flexibility as with the manufacturer's top options. As with most budget bars, there's no support for Dolby Atmos, so you can't take advantage of more immersive object-based formats often found on streaming services. Its surround sound performance is also pretty abysmal. Without discrete surrounds, it has to downmix this content into stereo to play it, which doesn't sound quite as immersive. That said, if you aren't much of a movie fan, it's a great fit. Ultimately, it still makes for a solid upgrade over your existing TV speakers at a wallet-friendly price. Once you’ve grown accustomed to these highlights of the Q60B’s pictures, you also become aware of its excellent sharpness. This is especially true with native 4K content, of course, but actually its upscaling of HD sources is also a cut above the norm at this price point, even without the full might of Samsung’s AI-based databases on hand to help it identify and respond to different sources more effectively. Movie Mode: Enhances the audio experience for movies, providing immersive surround sound and emphasizing dialogue clarity. The Samsung HW-Q60B has a decent selection of sound enhancement features, especially compared to similar 3.1 models like the Sony HT-S2000. You can customize its sound with its bass and treble adjustments as well as its 7-band graphic EQ. There are several preset modes, including 'Standard', 'Surround Sound', 'Game', 'Adaptive Sound', and 'DTS VIRTUAL:X'. 'Adaptive Sound' is a dialogue enhancement feature, and 'DTS VIRTUAL:X' is a virtual surround mode that creates a more 3D sound. Also, if you add on rear speakers, you can adjust their levels. Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, DTS:X (eARC), Dolby TrueHD (eARC), DTS HD-MA (eARC), 5.1 PCM (eARC)

Dolby Digital: This widely-used format provides a higher bandwidth sound that handles five discrete audio channels for surround sound and a subwoofer channel.

The Samsung Q60B makes a good first impression on two counts. First, it’s much brighter than the majority of TVs we see in this price category. Bright enough, in fact, to handle high dynamic range sources with genuine conviction – by which we mean that bright scenes, at least, actually look like genuine HDR rather than just like something that’s a bit better than SDR. For any content that you submit, you grant SAMSUNG a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, fully transferable right and license to use, copy, modify, delete in its entirety, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from and/or sell and/or distribute such content and/or incorporate such content into any form, medium or technology throughout the world without compensation to you. While the HW-Q60B has a bit better frequency response, the LG S65Q is better in handling distortion on both normal listening volume and max volume. At normal listening volume, both may have good performance of handling harmonic distortion, allowing them can produce pure and clean sound. But at max volume, their total harmonic distortion is rapidly deteriorating, especially for the HW-Q60B. But of course, this certainly is not a big issue since most people rarely set them at max volume. The Samsung HW-Q990C is the best Samsung soundbar we've tested. This premium 11.1.4 soundbar is the next generation of the Samsung HW-Q990B, and its sound quality is even better than its predecessor. Out-of-the-box, you enjoy a clear and clean sound suitable for listening to many different types of audio content, from music to movies to TV shows. The dedicated sub brings the rumble in the bass, and it's more controlled than last year's model, so voices and lead instruments are represented with balance alongside the bass. Gamers will be enthused, though, both by the number of game streaming services available on Samsung’s dedicated Gaming Hub screen and by the TV’s seriously speedy 9.4ms of input lag when using the TV’s ‘Fastest’ response time setting.

While its content is impressive, we’re not fans of the way Samsung’s latest smart TV system is presented and organised. Moving to a full-screen interface from the previous generation’s superimposed rows of content along the bottom edge feels unnecessary, and the layout and navigation of the new smart interface both feel unhelpful and illogical at times. Experience suggests we’ll probably see a much-improved refinement of this new approach next year. Here’s hoping, anyway. Despite making a pleasing first impression with its design and some of the more aggressive aspects of its picture quality, in the end, Samsung’s attempt to make Quantum Dot technology more affordable doesn’t result in the budget hero we’d hoped for.Eco Mode: This mode optimizes energy usage without compromising audio quality, further reducing power consumption during extended periods of use. Since they both come with 3.1 setup, they don’t have surround driver. However, they can still play surround sound by downmix it to stereo. And of course, you will not get the true experience of the surround sound. Sound seem come from where the bar is placed instead it seem come from an accurate location in the soundstage. So, you can get the real sense when you are watching movies or playing games with 5.1 audio. Ignoring their soundstage, though, surround sound produced by the HW-Q60B is a bit better than LG S65Q. The S65Q may can get louder at max volume, which is around 95 dB SPL.
