Jason, Thompson (May 3, 2013). "Jason Thompson's House of 1000 Manga - Franken Fran". Anime News Network . Retrieved September 12, 2018. In the manga Franken Fran, Doctor Madaraki Naomitsu is a modern day Frankenstein. While he’s world-renowned for his vast medical knowledge and experimental practices, he’s secretly gone missing. So when visitors find their way to his doorstep seeking help, they are surprised to find his reanimated daughter Fran instead. Fran is very much a present-day Frankenstein’s monster, but with a distinctly kind soul. Every surgery she undertakes is done with the patient’s best interests at heart. However, her solutions are not always exactly what the patient expects.

Badass Adorable: A timid little girl, who gets easily flustered and can be pretty cute. She is also an assassin who whips up blades out of nowhere and effectively kills anyone in her way. Franken is a Mad Scientist who thinks that there's nothing worse than death and has a case of Blue-and-Orange Morality but she does have geunine good intentions and cares very much about her patients which she does best to help them even though it might lead to disaster. Science Hero: Uses science as her best solution for anything, but whether what she ends up doing is a good solution or not, is debatable to say the least. The mantle of a superhero that gets taken up by multiple people, all of whom gained their powers after being modified by Fran, on their own request. There are currently four sentinels, with the next one existing as a reaction to or result of the former, and they exist simultaneously. All of them are dressed in a dark outfit with a insect-like helmet, reminiscinent of Kamen Rider. Despite calling themselves good guys, every one of them (except the 4th) is extremely amoral, which is taken so far that they are considered terrorists by some. All of them Naughty Tentacles - briefly in chapter 38. When your body reshapes on your whims, you should really keep dirty thoughts under control.

Takeshi Toudou: Sentinel I

Just a word of warning, practically all links here are NSFW. They are also not for the faint of heart. Meaningful Name: Greek/Russian male-variant of "Gabriel", which is Hebrew for "God is my strong man". Gainax Ending: Neither the last chapter or the ending itself have any build-up or lead-in, and its kinda hard to tell what actually happened in the end. Mostly a matter of opinion, but when she isn't looking scary or creepy, she can actually look pretty cute.

Gone Horribly Right: Boy, howdy. A painter asks for working eyes - and gets to see Cthulhu. Girls complain about the boys being too horny - we find them in the embrace of... God-doesn't-want-to know-what, and it's passed as comedy. A woman wants to be eternally young - well, just look at And I Must Scream above. Fran and Veronica's psychotic, cannibalistic elder sister, and the only recurring villain in the series. Gavrill is one of the earliest creations of Naomitsu Madaraki. She is violent and quite foul-mouthed. Also, unlike her younger sisters, she places absolutely no value on human life. Officer Kuhou. She's always running into Fran and she's had far too much experience with her in the past. Kuhou will start to have a mini Freak Out any time she comes across her or if she even suspects her to be involved in her current case. Fran made her fight her own clones after a case for reasons best know to Fran. She does not even know if she is the original or not. Poor girl... Then it happens again. Mad Scientist's Beautiful Daughter : She is the creation of Dr. Madaraki, after all, though she's more of a Cute Monster Girl version of this trope

This series provides examples of:

Mandatory Twist Ending: Skillfully averted. That is, we do get a guaranteed twist at the end but sometimes the twist is a straight happy ending when we all expect something horrible. Thus, we can never be sure how it ends until the last panel. Unhappy Birthday - Fran attends a party in her creator's place. The happy celebration of a young girl's birthday is ruined when Fran reveals that all the food that the guests have been eating were the body of the birthday girl. She shows everyone that it was somehow a suicide. Action Girl: Carries a pair of Absurdly Sharp Blades beside her, and is normally considered as Fran's personal bodyguard. Nice Girl: She is very polite to people and despite having serious case of Blue-and-Orange Morality does genuinely want to help people despite that it can end up in disaster at times. After a gruesome battle between Gavrill's gang and a abomination of human body parts fused together by Fran, Fran and Veronica manage to escape through the air ducts by making some bodily sacrifices. Veronica's body is shrunk due to her previous defeat at the hands of Gavrill, and Fran sacrificed her lower body. The scent of Fran's lower half attracts the wolf-like Gavrill. When she discovered the body however, Gavrill knew it was a trap as Fran not only left behind her lower half, but also a bomb with it. On the severed body was a note written by Fran to Gravill, which said "Elder sister, your manners are atrocious and I must punish you". As soon as she read this, Gavrill was swallowed in the explosion. It is unknown if she survived.
