I think if I'm honest with myself, I will hardly ever reach for this as I am a gourmand lover at heart, but I respect it and it almost hurts me a little to resell it. If it weren't for the strong presence of patchouli after it dries down, I would probably keep it. And to be clear I think the patch fits very well here; I just have never liked it. I could call myself a summer scent collector (and user of course), since I spend such a large amount of the year travelling in countries with pretty hot and humid climates. Honestly, the original Hollister Wave is the only one I recommend. Wave 2 and Free Wave just pale in comparison since they're not aquatic/sweet enough. Believe the people who say this has ridiculously short longevity. It’s not just their skin. This won’t last longer on you. It’s unbelievable how it just disappears!I literally don't dislike anything about this fragrance. The longevity, sillage, concentration, and scent are all perfect to me. It's a outstanding sweet men's cologne. Socal is a lovely warm and adventurous scent. It's like coming out of the woods and stepping into your shed with a freshly chopped conifer tree over your shoulder, while someone's making you fresh caramel.

The fragrance opens with an electric spark of juicy citruses notes. Making way for wild orchid, sunset hibiscus and California Poppy. Warm, enveloping woods and amber create the perfect balance in the base illustrating the warm summers evening. Product Specification I wonder why Fragrantica doesn't have the main accords or the notes of this fragrance cause I'm super curious what they would be. To my inexperienced nose it's pineapple, coconut, musk, and wood. It's classified as an amber fougere so I guess it has amber and maybe lavender. And the whole thing is wrapped up in a slight iciness or menthol/cooling vibe. It's summer beach bar goodness in a bottle. To me Socal for men smells clean, citrus, fresh, & sweet musk. An easy, everyday, crowd pleaser forsure. Personally, its so fresh and clean I can see this being unisex as well. Very slight Invictus vibe but not as much as Zara Seoul or A&F First Instict Together. It smells good but not amazing. I prefer A&F First Instict Together over this. I'll give it 6/10.This is a great value for a clean, interesting shower scent. It holds well with a light spray in my experience. It starts out very zesty and zingy, and becomes more "Hollister store" unisex as it develops. I personally feel this smells quite expensive as freshies go, rather than smelling like a typical citrus body mist from the drugstore.

The resemblance is truly uncanny and even the bottle shapes of both and colour scheme of the bottles and caps are very very similar...Very pretty, although a little thin, longevity is not the worst (I can smell it for at least 5-6 hours) but it doesn't smell like a proper perfume no matter how much I spray on, too watered down. I like how I can layer it with matching body spray and use a ton, sometimes that's what I want, but with this one I could spill the entire bottle on myself and it would probably still not be enough. Upon first spraying it smelled of pure alcohol and a generic perfumey scent but once it hits my skin it’s a very pretty, clean scent! And even the scent is very nice girly-like fresh fruity sweet scent. Not particulary my style but I wouldn't be disappointed if getting it as a gift at all :) nice one! Just a really good fragrance, I'm starting to realize I just love fragrances with this note composition. A musk base cologne. With a generic masculine smell, with a touch of sweetness.

Perfect for summer work days, or after shower (anytime of year) because it is cheap, and it is mild. its nice to go to bed smelling like this. Knowing the target of Hollister, I was not expecting a sophisticated, gourmand fragrance. Yet, it has a special appeal, it smells like other fragrances out there, but it's " hypnotic" in a way, feels clean, masculine, leathery, slightly herbal with a touch of sweetness. It took me by surprise when I realized that this fragrance gets better as it gets closer to the middle notes and dry down. Like a grown up cologne, who knew! However this can work anytime of year because it dries down to floral, wood and musk. its very chill.The juice and opening are a little weird at first. Smells very sweet and synthetic at first. But then dries down to this alluring sweet masculine musk. Its longevity on skin is actually decent I get about 6-7 hours. But it's a skin scent for its entire life cycle. The silage of Wave 2 is with in about arms reach. But in all honesty it makes the cologne that much cooler. Because it mysteriously and charmingly takes you by surprise. At first I get the sweetness that remind me of the honey and the salt from the sand. Maybe a hint of coconut water and fruit but just a hint. After the first twenty minutes or so it just fades into a floral skin scent, mainly the tiare flower. This is my shameless "I want to smell like a boy" smell. That's all there is to it. It's very shower gel-y, very bright. Reminds me very strongly of the white tea Solinotes fragrance (The Blanc), at least in the top/mid.
