Moonlocket, the second in the series is equally exciting, packed with thrills, heroes and dastardly villains. It also discusses what it means to be different, what family really is, how it feels to loose someone close to you, and if love also means trust. Furthermore, it kind of discusses the same topics as the previous book, that is friendship and loyalty. He stole it fifteen years ago, after which, he was imprisoned, now he has the chance to get it back and escape for good. There is a mystery at the heart of the story, which Lily and Robert have to solve, concerning the Moonlocket.

Lily has never quite felt normal, especially after discovering that she is a hybrid—a human with a cogheart implanted in her chest.So the mysteries in Moonlocket became more complex and Robert and Lily have to use their wits to a greater degree this time to solve the clues themselves. There was still the whole steampunk-element, and I rather enjoy the British language and style, but the story didn't really captivate me. I thought it was absolutely fantastic to have the spotlight on Robert, who we first meet in Cogheart, and who helps Lily on her fantastic adventure, it was lovely to get to see a different side of him and have him be less of a supporting character and be more in the forefront. The pair, plus sarcastic mechanical fox Malkin, find themselves plunged into another adventure taking in the darkest corners of Victoriana London. So yeah I think the story itself is great middle grade but detail wise I think that there is a lot that don’t work for middle grade or don’t make sense. This second book was just as adventurous and action-packed as the first; I love the steampunk elements and the covers of this series!The story picked up not long after where the previous book finished and included all of the fabulous goodies from the first tale - but we also got introduced to more! I really totally adored this book, and look-forward to seeing the faces of the young people (and old people) who get to be part of this special, extraordinary world. But that particular mechanical elephant lives in an amazing theme park in France filled with mechanimals! Lily and Robert are trying to figure out what the Moonlocket is, but they get a rude awakening when secrets from Robert's past come to light.
