It is possible to grow squash plants in the vegtrug, however due to the sprawling nature of Winter squash, I would only grow Summer squash in there. Summer squash like courgettes (zucchini) and patty pans grow in a more compact, bush like manner. This means they will take up less space and the fruits will remain above ground level with less chance of damage.Over filling can cause problems for sure as can too much water (or too little) and also growing the wrong combinations can be problematic although that doesn’t seem to be the case in your vegtrug.
