Sadie and her daughter Robin have returned to her childhood home after the death of her mother. She has enrolled Robin in her old school to comply with her mothers wishes. I read almost all the stories published by the author in the past and always looking forward to seeing where she will take us next with her novels.

Surprisingly I had not come across this author before despite the fact that she has written over forty books in one of my favourite genres.If you’ve recently read and enjoyed “Blood Orange” by Harriet Tyce, you will be gripped with this, her latest suspenseful read - “The Lies You Told”. The heroine is one really messed up woman who is functional but has soooo many issues. The hero, if you could say this plot has a hero, likes what he sees but delving deeper may not be in his best interest. Actually, as much as I wanted a hero, there really wasn't one. This story was all about one woman's road to getting justice for her murdered twin and overcoming her awful family. Never lie to the people you care about, even if the truth might hurt them. Lying ruins trust.” — Unknown 26. Lying by omission is still a lie. This was good! I decided to read this book on a bit of a whim. I hadn't heard anything about the book or the author but I am always ready to give a thriller a try and I liked the sound of this one. Let me tell you that once I really got into the book, I was hooked and couldn't wait to find out what was really going on. This was definitely an entertaining read.

This book basically has two plots, first is Sadie and what’s going on with her and a robin and second is a case that Sadie is working on, I love a bit of courtroom drama so I loved this! And she can’t tell her the truth about the school Robin’s set to start at – a school that doesn’t welcome newcomers. And with great pacing, riveting characters and plenty of twists. This genuinely was a story I couldn't put down and its one I would definitely recommend to others.

A few of the characters were well-sketched. I liked Marisa’s portrayal the best, though it too had minor flaws. I was initially worried that she would be yet another unreliable narrator with an alcohol addiction but her character was handled fairly well by the author.
