Description

While the air conditioner may leak if not setup with a slight downward tilt, and it also requires some forethought in terms of ducting, it has a lot of positive traits going for it. Sure, it’s incredibly expensive, but if you have the means and the need for a relatively portable, well-designed air conditioner that can also provide heat, look no further. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios help the Wave connect to its mobile companion app. Just note that the appliance doesn’t support Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands. It also doesn't work with the Apple HomeKit platform, IFTTT applets, or any third-party integrations.

If you’re concerned about sustainability — and who isn’t? — WAVE 2 uses R290 as its refrigerant. Unlike traditional coolants used in ACs and refrigerators — like freonand other CFCs— R290 is a natural, clean, and green refrigerant with less global warming potential and no ozone emissions. You’re doing your bit to reduce your carbon footprint by choosing an AC that uses eco-friendly coolants. The EcoFlow WAVE 2 uses R290, a natural refrigerant that’s clean, green, and perfect for a relaxing cooling experience. With lower global warming potential and no ozone emissions, it’s the ideal way to stay cool and comfortable compared to traditional refrigerants while reducing your carbon footprint. EcoFlow WAVE 2 Swappable Battery Heavy items will require the recipient to make arrangements to take delivery of the goods and may require the recipient to help the courier unload the item. For items that are delivered on a pallet the courier will leave the pallet as close to your door as possible. While on Eco mode, with EcoFlow's exclusive technology of Smart Battery Allocation Algorithm, Wave 2 can balance between cooling mode and fan mode to provide users with an expected long runtime.

However, there’s one main caveat to the battery – it cannot be charged without being physically attached to the Wave 2 unit. That said, there’s no inclusion of a power input on the battery itself; only on the Wave 2 unit. As a result, you must keep the battery attached via the XT150 cable if you would like to charge it. Placed in a room with no direct sunlight, the Wave 2 dealt more easily with heat: my 28°C room dropped to a more pleasant 22°C within an hour. In addition to the off-grid charging capability, EcoFlow also uses R290 refrigerant, which is more eco-friendly than traditional refrigerants, as it has no ozone-destruction qualities. Through the EcoFlow smartphone app or the manual controls on the AC unit, you can customise the various modes and set the desired runtimes to fit your needs. With off-grid capability and multiple charging options (including solar), the WAVE 2 Portable AC brings you one step closer to building a smart, sustainable home ecosystem. Final Thoughts

The Ecoflow WAVE 2 Portable ACis a smart, portable cooling and heating solution for those needing a compact but powerful unit. Its no-drainage design in cooling mode makes it ideal for people who don’t want to deal with installation or hiring a professional. While the air conditioner compressor is under operation, it works by diverting warm air out of the intake and exhausting it through the ducting. As a result, hot air will be pumping out of the unit as cold air is being delivered out the front.

The EcoFlow WAVE 2 Portable Air Conditioner is a must-have for individuals who are always on the go and in need of a reliable and convenient source of cool air. It is compact, lightweight, and easy to install, making it ideal for use in outdoor and indoor settings. EcoFlow WAVE 2 Is Installation-free – Fits Anywhere. The Wave 2 from EcoFlow advances portable air conditioning to a palpable level for off-grid users. It adds a few new features from the original EcoFlow Wave including a heat function, improved cooling times, a new display screen interface and a slightly more compact/lighter build. After returning to a toasty warm van in a spring rainstorm, I think I could get used to this whole “van office” thing. I just need to build a bed for Marty.

Highly compact at 20.4” × 11.7” × 13.2” (518 × 297 × 336 mm), you can take WAVE 2 anywhere — from road trips to camping adventures, without sacrificing valuable space in your motorhome, car, or your living room. 27% More Powerful Ultimately, my choice of mode was based on the temperature and cooling need. I tested the unit inside my garden office (around 7m²), which faces south, with the sun beating down through the glass doors. At its worst, this office can easily zoom past 35°C with the doors shut. If you have larger rooms or those that get much hotter, you’ll need to up the BTU count on a unit and get something larger, such as a more traditional portable unit. The EcoFlow Wave 2 is a game changer when it comes to efficient heating and cooling. While it’s not perfect, it’s likely the best portable air conditioner currently available on the market. And with its ability to act as a heater as well, there’s truly nothing similar to compare it to, putting it in a class of its own. It’s relatively quiet, portable and well designed. To charge the battery, you need to plug in the EcoFlow Wave 2. If the AC unit is off, the battery will draw 700 watts and recharge in around three hours. Turn the EcoFlow Wave 2 on, and it will run normally, but the battery charges more slowly. One slight annoyance is that you can only charge it when it's connected to the Wave 2. But, aside from the ability to go off-grid, the battery also affords you some flexibility about how and when you charge up and how expensive the Wave 2 will be to run. That makes it well worth considering. For air conditioning, the EcoFlow Wave 2 is rated at a maximum of 5100BTU, although that assumes mains power, which it draws 550W; on battery power, power consumption is slightly reduced to 495W. I found that power consumption on maximum hovered around the 430W mark. That’s still relatively efficient for an air conditioning unit, and that’s down to the quality of the compressor inside. One of the most significant upgrades of the WAVE’s newest generation is its heating and cooling capabilities. The original WAVE Portable AC was a powerful unit — but it was limited to only cooling.
