Reset the Controller: If none of these solutions work, you’ll have to give your controller a hard factory reset. The slow blinking light indicates that the controller is on charge and the PS button registry of the conductive film has been damaged. If none of these steps then you may have a broken controller, if your that guy or girl who knows your controller across the room when you lose then that’s probably the reason.

But if the light remains orange as you play, or if it turns steady orange, you may need some troubleshooting. To clarify, a solid orange light is the equivalent of “rest mode” while a softly, pulsing orange light indicates that the controller is charging only, not turned on, or otherwise engaged with anything other than charging. Playing on your controller while it charges slowly lowers the time that the controller can hold a charge. It presents itself with the light bar blinking orange when it’s charging but stops before a complete charge. When the controller flashes an Orange/Yellow light, unplug the USB cable from the micro USB port, and plug it again after 2 seconds and let the controller’s light blink once, and then remove the cable again and plug it in one last time, the controller should blink once and should not show any light, now you have to press the PS button of your controller, and the console will recognize it. The orange light indicates that the controller is either in “rest mode” or there is a potential connection issue. The console can be restarted, the software can be updated, the batteries can be changed, or the controller can be reset to fix the issue.

To turn the console on from rest mode, hold down the PS Button on a USB-connected or previously paired controller.Since you cannot use the controller, you have to download the PS4 Remote Play app on your phone or tablet; it lets you control your PS4 so you can remove the controller from Bluetooth devices and pair it again. Checking the USB cable is the first thing you should do to make sure the controller is properly charging.

Restarting the console, updating the software, replacing the batteries, or resetting the controller can all help to resolve the issue.Despite how annoying it is, you shouldn’t be concerned about the “blinking orange light on PS4 controller” problem. If you don’t want to wipe your data, follow the same steps, and instead of selecting “Initialize PS4,” select “Restart PS4. If resetting the console and controller did not help, you can try turning the PS4 on in safe mode and check if it works. Then, move on to more complicated fixes like factory resetting the console or enabling safe mode, only if the simpler solutions don’t work. Just like your PS4 your controller has it’s own software that can get corrupted, doing the above method will set your controller back to factory defaults and hopefully fix your problem. If the indicator light only blinks white, or if the blue light does not transition to solid white, the console is frozen and needs troubleshooting. It won’t turn back on its own, however, because all you need to do from here is press the power button to turn it back on like normal. This could be caused by a software problem, a faulty USB cable, or because the controller is already linked to another device.
