Please do not waste your money on this book. There are other books about the Watts family murders that are more worthy of your time and your hard earned money.

Watts, 35, cried in court as he pleaded guilty to five counts of murder in the first degree, three counts of tampering with a deceased human body, and one count of unlawful termination of a pregnancy. Reviewer Bilal Qureshi adds: "It is a thematic film about marriage and the deception of social media, as well as a piercing examination of domestic violence constructed with care and undeniable craft." Being fanatical about this case, I’m glad I read this book. It’s fascinating to see Chris’s own words as to why he slaughtered his own family. That said, there are some major issues here— A lot of this book focuses on the "dark spirit" that had a hold over Chris Watts... and personally, I think that is just a BS way of skirting full responsibility. He chose to murder his family. He chose to dispose of their bodies cruelly. He chose to lie about their whereabouts at first. He chose. He, Christopher Lee Watts, chose to murder his pregnant wife and two daughters. And the responsibility for those crimes lies solely on his shoulders. Just because he has found God, and asked for forgiveness, doesn't mean all culpability is relieved from his shoulders. While it’s interesting to hear from Chris Watts own words (and let’s face it his words don’t amount to much with all his contradictions, god drivel and continuing to put up the pretence of accepting blame while simultaneously blaming his victims) this book was hard to read. The kindle formatting, the spelling errors, the constant claims the author makes that she doesn’t blame Shanann while focusing on said murdered woman’s supposedly controlling behaviour. Oh and of course no book written by a religious person can go without having some element of a possession story inside it? Literally a POSSESSION? If not I suppose we could clear up the whole mystery by placing Chris Watts on the spectrum. He’s obviously a family annihilator because he’s a possessed man on the spectrum. The forces of evil are not greater than the forces of good - unless we have allowed that evil to take deep root.”

Setting aside the criticisms of the book, there are some serious bombshells in Letters From Christopher that aren't featured in the Netflix documentary American Murder. One, which made headlines in 2019, is that Watts claims he felt he'd killed his daughters "twice," since he apparently tried to suffocate them while at home, before he strangled Shanann. The Netflix documentary details how Watts actually killed his daughters at a second location, after he murdered Shanann. This is basically everything we already know. No new info at all, because the author decided to sell the one letter he wrote which had a few new details to the Daily Mail, before the book was released so it pretty much spoiled it. If you thought Netflix's American Murder: The Family Next Door was the most in-depth look into Chris Watts' horrendous crimes that's out there, we've got news for you. The convicted killer actually helped in the writing of a book all about killing his pregnant wife and two daughters, and it's already been published.

Letters from Christopher

The only justification he offered for the senseless killings—and the hypothesis seemingly put forward in the Netflix documentary—is that he felt it was the only way to be with Nichol Kessinger, the colleague he had begun secretly dating only a few weeks before. "I knew if I took my hands off of her, she would still keep me from Nikki," he wrote. Elsewhere in the letters, admitting to Cadle that he slipped Oxycodone to Shan'ann, who was 15 weeks pregnant at the time of her death, in an attempt to cause her to miscarry, Chris wrote, "I thought it would be easier to be with Nichol if Shan'ann wasn't pregnant." Watts revealed in a letter he smothered his young daughters TWICE after they woke to see their dead mom's blood-filled eyes. Well, besides being full of typos and terrible grammar, it does NOT offer much in the way of new information. Basically, the author just took the information that has previously been reported and wrote it out in her own words. Words that are written with more grammatical errors than a grade one book report. Just knowing that the documentary is out there has sent Chris to some dark places," a source tells People.
