At first, we saw London Dry Gins and some relatively standard options, whereas now we are seeing supermarkets and retailers who are slightly more innovative than some actual distilleries are. Some of our favourite options that are offered by supermarket giant Asda include: 1. ASDA Extra Special Pink Gin Extra Ginger- If you're a ginger lover, add a slice or two of fresh ginger to the rhubarb while cooking. This will give the simple syrup additional flavor. If you’re having a celebration day or fancy a party, you can add a splash of your ginger and rhubarb gin to a glass of Prosecco – just remember that this combination is quite alcoholic!

In this issue, Gin Magazine features a variety of alternative mixers that can be combined with gin. Salt, vinegar, bacon and eggs, peanut butter, and jelly are just a few of the classic pairings. Ginger ale is less popular, but it is not as well known as other beers. To make this drink, combine raspberries with gin in the bottom of a glass, then ice, and finally cream soda. Teas with a herbal or savory flavor, such as Gin Mare and Earl Grey, are appropriate for gins with a savoury or herbal flavor. Because of the combination of pineapple and grapefruit flavors, this carbonated beverage has a fruity, bittersweet taste. Cola’s sweetness may be perceived as a problem by some drinkers, so if this is a concern, try adding a splash of water. Other garnishes- We like to use a vegetable peeler to peel strips of rhubarb stalk and use them for garnish. You can also use a lemon wedge, mint sprig or even chamomile flowers. So taste the gin at intervals, and once you’re happy with the flavour, filter out all the botanicals using a sieve. If there’s some sediment left in the liquid, use some muslin or a coffee filter to strain it again.Today, we are going to be taking a look at Asda’s ever-growing range of traditional gins and innovative flavoured gins, as more and more seem to be getting distilled regularly, leaving us excited to see what happens next. The Boom in Own-Label Gins This is a ridiculously easy recipe to make, and one that is very rewarding (as long as you like rhubarb, ginger and gin, that it!) The gin should be a neutral, mid range one – don’t go for one that already has flavours in, and don’t worry if it is not the highest quality. Gin is great on its own – long summer evenings drinking G&T are a wonderful way to pass the time! But how about jazzing up your favourite drink with some added flavours? If you are a fan of rhubarb then you are probably already in love with its delicate flavour – but have you ever thought of adding it to gin?

In the past, you have seen us review gins and gin liqueurs from a number of different supermarket giants and companies. Just remember that strong flavours like citrus peel, chilli and fresh or dried herbs tend to be quite powerful in small amounts!Cut the rhubarb to 2-3cm lengths and cut the ginger into cubes (you don’t have to peel it is you don’t want to).

That’s not completely untrue - there is a type of gin called “compound gin” that you can make in your kitchen with a bottle of vodka and whatever botanicals you feel like adding. But for an even easier “cheat’s” take on flavoured gin, try one of our ‘ginfusions’ below. Home made infusions are a delicious way of mixing it up when it comes to drinks. This rhubarb and ginger gin is the perfect example: simple to make, delicious, and so versatile. It’s a great change from, but as easy to make as the better-known sloe gin.It goes really well with tonic, as a normal gin does, or you can add other flavours such as lime cordial or ginger beer. Another great thing about this drink is the colour. The rhubarb brings a beautiful floral pink tinge, which will look lovely in your drinks cabinet. To add jewels to this crown, try adding ginger – these two flavours complement each other really well. Would you like to know how to make a rhubarb and ginger gin recipe? Well, of course you would! What’s great about rhubarb and ginger gin You can use your own homemgrown rhubarb for this rhubarb gin recipe, the lovely bright pink forced rhubarb you get in the shops in winter/spring that comes from Yorkshire or you can use frozen rhubarb too for this gin liqueur recipe. Notes You can, of course, drink this delicious infusion neat. It has enough sweetness and fruity flavours to make this quite palatable, but you will probably find that it works best with some sort of mixer, to dilute the sweetness somewhat. Alternatively if you are not a gin drinker then use a similar quality of vodka to make rhubarb and ginger vodka! How do I serve Rhubarb and Ginger Gin?
