He doesn’t have many people in his life apart from has an assistant Laura; who he trusts and knows she is as lost as him and his gardener. Realising he is running out of time, he leaves his house and all its lost treasures to his assistant Laura, the one person he can trust to reunite the thousands of objects with their rightful owners. This story moved slowly, maybe too slow, and while the writing was charming and exuded an air of sophistication, in this case the execution fell off for me.

It was endearing and brought a big smile to my face as I turned the last page and read the last word. In parallel with the memorabilia project, there is another story involving a book publisher Bomber, his assistant Eunice, and Bomber’s hilarious sister, Portia. Everything was an alliteration - Poisonous Portia, Slinked seductively into the salon (everything was alliterated, all the time!Recovering from a bad divorce, Laura struggles to put her own life back together when she becomes the new keeper of lost things. It was a story of people, a bit broken at times, but with the strength and love we all possess and probably should show more of. However the group loved Sunshine and found her character quite sensitive and funny in an endearing way (though it was noted that it seemed a bit odd that her parents let her spend so much time with complete strangers for so long). Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB. Eunice leaves a dead end job and takes an exciting one in publishing with a witty and charismatic boss.

Now out to take a look for some lost things as I would truly love to be a keeper of lost things too! The primary storyline is modern day and revolves around Laura, an assistant to aging author Anthony Peardew. Her own success is an inspiration within itself, as this authoress was older when her first book was published. An enchanting debut novel from Ruth Hogan about love, friendship and passion, life and afterlife, acceptance and endurance. It brings lots of tears, laughs and smiles, which probably made lots of folks on the trail I walk wonder what was going on with me.The style of writing was enjoyed by the readers , it was just the storylines that left people feeling confused and irritated, though we felt it got better towards the second half of the book - even if it did end a bit too conveniently.
