Description

Surge Protection – three channel protection – absorbing mains surges and spikes which can cause permanent damage to equipment. Following the award-winning CS929, the Tacima CS947 mains conditioner offers even greater protection from the sound-degrading effects of mains. It would actually be very simple for WHiFi to prove their claims. Record the signal coming out of the amp with and without the conditioner in place. Then use a comparator to show the difference in the signals. That wouldn't cost much, they could probably borrow the kit, Why don't they do it? Simple answer is that there isn't any difference and once that is exposed the whole edifice comes crashing down. Gas Discharge tube technology is used to satisfy the latest safety requirements for Surge Protectors. Thermal Protection On releasing the test button the green light will go off and the Mains Conditioner will be fully operational and function as normal. Technical Information

My PC > WireWorld Ultraviolet 7 > iFi Audio iPurifier 2 > Topping EX5 > Neo by Oyaide d+ XLR (Class B) XLR to XLR > Genelec 8010a Don't think WHSV 'stopped doing technical testing': as far as I know the magazine has never done any form of technical testing. Clearly they think it's irrelevant, can't afford/can't be bothered to do it, or would rather spin invisible clothes out of fiction. Mains spikes and interference can enter the router from the mains causing the modem to sync at lower speeds, or even occasionally drop connection. I use a Tacima CS947 to filter mains to my router.

Basically it is the USB noise, however I am very puzzle as I use XLR to XLR from my Topping EX5 to Genelec 8010a. The fact that this didn't happen in my iFi nano iDSD perhaps is due to nano iDSD relies on the USB power in addition to the data transfer, for some reason, there was not any issue with the USB ground loop. Whereas in Topping EX5, it uses external power, USB power is not being used then creating such ground loop problem? I have two and the differences are audible. Until you have at least tried one your opinion holds little water. If, after you had one in your system, you still feel it makes no difference ... I respect your view. If I remember correctly, you once posted a photo of your desk with speakers sitting directly on the desk, no stands and no isolation foam. I wouldn't worry too much about it, and, like most things, it's down to you whether you want to believe them or not? Filter Status Test Mains Conditioners do not have any indicating lights on during normal use as this can effect the performance so this equipment has a test button for peace of mind. Pressing the green button briefly on the CS947 should illuminate a green status light to indicate the mains conditioner filter is operational.

Another new function is the Filter Status Test button. Pressing the button illuminates a status light to indicate all is well with the conditioner filter. The light doesn't stay on as this can have a slight degrading effect on the mains quality. Our filters are specifically designed to combat both “Asymmetrical” as well as “Symmetrical” interference, both being effectively suppressed by the introduction of High Frequency Capacitors and a single Choke In addition we have also incorporated an Earth Line Choke to stop interference through the mains earth line, finally we use a Screened Mains Cable to eliminate the effects of radiated noise interference. Technical spec Have a look at the 2nd review down in the list and take the last sentence "I liked it so much I bought a second one as I got fed up transfering the first one between the hifi and home-cinema" and put it into google: Mains Conditioners help reduce Radio Frequency Interference and so help to enhance the sound and/or picture quality by reducing interference. The Tacima CS947 uses sophisticated filtering that uses high frequency capacitors and a single choke to suppress both symmetrical and asymmetrical mains interference. In addition to this, the mains cable is also thoroughly screened to help eliminate the effects of radiated noise interference. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) A potentially wallet-saving feature is the surge protection. With three-channel protection to 'absorb' mains surges and spikes, your equipment is protected from potential disaster. Final point. The most simple you can make your phone wiring the better, in a perfect world you don't want any phone extensions running in your home. Personally I use Siemens Gigaset DECT phones that are connected near the BT VDSL faceplate, the Gigaset DECT phones also have ECO DECT that reduces radiation and lowers power usage. In addition I plug the Gigaset DECT phones into the same Tacima mains conditioner the Router / Modem is using. The reason for this is a mains spike could enter the DECT phone via it's transformer, travel down the phone line, pass the ADSL/VDSL filter, and still enter the router via this route. Issues with Topping EX5 and desktop system setup | Audio

By the way, forget the 'it sapped power' comments sometimes mentioned in conjunction with Tacimas. That really seems impossible but it does take some harshness/grain out of the sound which some may feel equates to very slightly subduing dynamics. It doesn't but if your system already sounds soft and reticent a Tacima may not prove beneficial other than being practical and provide surge protection. This six-way mains conditioner delivers truly dramatic audio gains. Comparing its performance to the ‘unconditioned' sound, our reference CD/amp system enjoys greater separation and focus of sound, and greater clarity and confidence in the midrange. Bass is burlier and better integrated, too. I would start by taking your Tacima mains filtering strip out of your system, not the other way around.

A new feature for the CS947 is gas tube protection. This adds further surge projection through the use of a Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) and helps the CS947 meet current regulations. Finally, thermal protection prevents the circuit from dangerous overheating, adding a further measure of safety to the product.
