And without seeing actual resolution numbers-available in the test for the Olympus lens but not for the Tamron-is it 100 percent fair to just make the claim that the Tamron "is designed to resolve 40 megapixels? From dimly lit church interiors and landscapes to portraits and wildlife, the 12-100mm can handle pretty much anything. I never had the intention of putting you on the defensive but to open up your thought process to the information addressing your conclusions. Additionally, a lens function button is featured on the side of the barrel for direct settings adjustment, and the lens also features a weather-sealed construction for use in trying environmental conditions.

This gallery by Carey is excellent, and totally in line with the pictures I've been getting with the lens since 2017. It seems to me that even with the EM5, shutter speed as low as 1s becomes manageable, 2s if with great care, although Olympus has announced previously older models like EM5 do not with the 12-100 IS.

The excellent gallery illustrates what this lens can and cannot do across a broad range of situations. on FF and thus it is a lens, which can be produced, as other manufacturers already produce similar lenses. Flare and loss of contrast aren't serious issues on the 12-100mm F4, even with the sun in the frame.

I love the lens when I am traveling with family members who meander about and make swift turns in varied directions. With the bigger Olympus E-M1 and E-M1 mark II, you really don’t need to use a battery grip if you don’t want to.

This lens does not get as nice reviews tested on a 42mpix A7R2, but down-sample it to 20mpix and comparison would be pretty similar – maybe….

I had the opportunity to use the Olympus 12-100mm F4 Pro lens extensively, especially during shooting sessions for my Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II review. I do a lot of abstract images close up, scratched metal, paint, stone and wood textural images) I’m very picky about sharpness in the tiniest far corners, and I can tell you, this lens delivers. Tamron introduced the super zoom and they are responsible for the well deserved terrible reputation that super zooms have.
