COFFEE PRESS FLEXIBILITY - Compatible with AeroPress Original, AeroPress Go and AeroPress Clear. Not compatible with AeroPress XL coffee maker.(Coffee press not included.) We do not recommend using the Flow Control Filter Cap on AeroPress Original coffee makers made before 2014 due to a change in material that may affect the fit of the Flow Control Filter Cap. However, turbidity can also mask some of the more delicate and nuanced flavors in coffee, particularly those found in lighter roasts or beans with fruity or floral notes. All AeroPress products are thoughtfully designed to deliver a unique and customizable coffee experience with each use. With a patented, portable design and unbelievably fast brewing process, AeroPress coffee makers allow users to create uniquely delicious coffee anytime, anywhere. I am a long time user of the Fellow Prismo, I probably make 60% of my cups using Onyx's 2 minute immersion recipe. I would describe myself as an insufferable coffee snob, and since I began roasting my own beans last year, I've developed a pretty sensitive palate due to all the practice with cupping. After a minute and 30 seconds, it was time for a small spin. Thirty seconds later (2 minutes total), I started pressing. I noted that the pressing was similar between the two devices. The valve added some resistance, but the pressing went smoothly, perhaps because the coffee was ground quite coarsely.

The Flow Control filter cap fits perfectly on both Go and the regular AeroPress. And it can be used with metal and paper filters, together or separately, for maximum brew versatility. Please bear in mind that not all manufacturers provide correct imagery and we may put a similar or alternative image to the actual product for illustration purposes only. The actual item you receive may differ from that which is displayed, for example the box may have changed or a model may have been upgraded or changed after we have added the product online. Turbidity refers to the cloudiness or haziness in a liquid caused by suspended particles or impurities. In coffee, it’s often caused by tiny coffee grounds, oils, and other compounds that make their way into the final brew because the filter material has too large pores or pressure has been involved..

There are a few different brands out there. Some have a bit more pedigree, for instance, Able and Cafe Concetto. The patent-pending Flow Control Filter Cap is an innovative new accessory that uses a pressure-actuated valve to eliminate drip through and maximize control over the brewing process. By attaching the cap to any AeroPress coffee maker, users can now create an espresso-like crema and experiment with a coarser grind of coffee, including pre-ground medium. Best of all, due to the innovative design of the small valve on the cap, the same pressing motion AeroPress users are accustomed to now creates significantly greater air pressure, further enhancing the already rich, full-bodied, and delicious flavor of an AeroPress-brewed cup of coffee. The AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap is compatible with both AeroPress Original and AeroPress Go coffee makers; and it can be used with metal and paper filters, together or separately, for maximum brew versatility. The barista-worthy coffee that consumers have long praised AeroPress for, can now be made with even more precision and consistency at home and anywhere its travel-friendly design takes them. Aesir filters are made from a new type of paper, which comes from a more dense and consistent pulp than what you’d find in most coffee filters. Now, you might think regular AeroPress filters do the same thing, but when you add around 1.5 bars of pressure, they become more porous. That means they let some of those bitter compounds seep into your cup, making the coffee taste not as great as it could. The AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap connects to the AeroPress Original, AeroPress Clear, or AeroPress Go brew chamber just like the filter cap that comes with an AeroPress coffee maker. The valve on the AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap stops water from dripping through until you press the plunger. This gives you unparalleled control over your recipe - a very important part of making espresso style coffee. The small size of the exit hole also creates higher pressure during the brew process, which helps simulate espresso. After some research, I decided to use a dark roast for this experiment, as it can provide more crema. In my research, some people recommended not to grind too finely to avoid clogging the valve, while others suggested grinding very finely to get a more espresso-like taste. Personally, I favor clarity (so that means paper filtration), but if you like something else, then by all means go ahead. If you want a ‘cleaner’ and more transparent cup profile similar to pour over rather than AeroPress, I highly recommend that you try these filters.

When it comes to pour over drippers, it’s well-known that the different paper filters significantly impact the final flavor of the brew.

Reviews

Fine ground coffee will give you the best results. Try a little more coarse than classic espresso ground. The grounds should be fluffy, but not such a fine powder that you can pinch it and cause a clump. Grounds that are too fine and clump easily can compact too much, creating excessive resistance to pressing. If you find that you aren’t able to press, don’t force it. Pause, give the AeroPress coffee maker a little swirl or a tiny lift of the plunger, then continue. Sidenote: Alan Adler was always very conservative when it came to releasing new products, but the new owners have already announced a range of new gadgets to be released soon The valve doesn't open until the user presses the plunger down , allowing for a greater pressure buildup that helps create an "espresso-style crema." However, to achieve this, the coffee should be ground smaller. This new feature not only opens up a wider range of particle sizes but also provides coffee brewers with greater control over the total brew time. BY TANYA NANETTI However, the good thing about the Prismo is that it can restrict flow during the steeping phase. Therefore, when using it, you will not have any bypass or premature dripping.

Now you can make espresso-like crema and experiment with coarser-ground coffee. The recipe was quite simple: Flow Control Filter Cap, paper filter, 18 grams of coffee, pour in 60 ml of water, stir vigorously for 30 seconds, close, and press.Another advantage of the Flow Control Filter Cap is that it works with AeroPress's paper and metal filters. This option definitely opens up more brewing options and recipes. The cap is also slightly cheaper than the Fellow Prismo and can be used with paper filters, unlike the Prismo, which can only be used with the metal mesh that's included.
