I toyed with the idea of ignoring this and putting the sidings in the same direction as the platforms but the idea of using the run-round as a headshunt and trying to keep as much to prototype as possible made me persevere and look for ways round it. Like your comments about canpoies and platform width thats the type of consideration I would have to solve before laying down track.

Once this was done (in two sections at that point as it is almost 3' long), I painted and weathered the underside as when the glazing, etc.

During the Victorian period the town prospered, with quarrying, weaving, mining, cotton spinning and shoe manufacturing providing a variety of occupations for the population of the town, and the natural geography offering a wealth of resources for businessmen and women to utilise to it’s fullest potential. Paint the slates with watercolours or watered down acrylics, applying numerous very thin washes to avoid 'planking' - where the vertical gap between each slate gets fulled with paint and disappears. Almost half of the length of the platform was covered with a canopy which consisted of twelve glazed pitches and under this were two platform shelters, one longer than the other. only to block it from view) but from the normal operating position, the view that is provided will enable me to see the vast majority of the railway.

Not the sort of place you would want to live really, but absolutely the sort of place you (well, I) would like to model. They focus on the Queen, government and religion, challenges to Elizabeth I at home and abroad, and Elizabethan society and the age of exploration. Quite a bit of it was done during the summer, sat in the garden with a beer in one hand and a scalpel in the other. As mentioned in my original post, I am tackling a number of the buildings first for a number of reasons, the main one being that I want to build the railway around the town, rather than the other way round and end up with a compromise, where buildings are slotted in to fit around the railway, not always in a prototypical style (e.It took me four months to complete the station and I then decided to build my own point work which was a big old learning curve and took another four months to get (most of) them done and wired in.
