Description

The main downside of this lens is its weight (1231g) and fatness : you will never forgot you carry this lens and you will be tired after a few hours shooting with it.

Possibilité de transformer la bague de mise au point en bague d’ouverture pour la vidéo (mode 2 en AF) The Tamron has also a more smooth zoom ring which is more convenient when zooming in video, the Samyang is a bit more stiff and you see that when zooming in video Cinematic Video AF: When shooting video, the AF speed is more carefully adjusted than photo shooting, resulting in lower wobbling and highly stable movie shooting. The Samyang, again like the Tamron, has two focus hold buttons, an AF/MF switch and a custom switch with three modes. These are distributed in the same way as on the Tamron, only they are just in a slightly different place. This is because the Tamron has a wider focus ring, whereas on the Samyang the zoom ring is wider again. As a result, the buttons on the Samyang are further forward. The Samyang AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 FE has a maximum aperture of F2 at its widest and F2.8 at the telephoto end, which covers the five main focal lengths (35/50/85/135/150). With its wide zoom range, the lens is designed as a fast all-rounder that covers a broad range of shooting scenarios, from portraits to travel. The premium design and performance of 2nd Generation lenses have been applied to the lens, and it also supports the key features of recent Sony mirrorless bodies, including Hybrid AF, Eye AF, Direct Manual Focus (DMF), and the AF assist function. Covering everything between 35mm and 150mm

Very good results overall, but corners are a bit soft at F2 and you clearly see an improvement when closing down. So for max consistency across the frame use F5.6/F8 MTF curves of the Samyang AF 35-150mm F2.0-2.8 FE are not yet available. Looking at the available high-resolution imagery of this lens, we see decent resolution, little to no chromatic aberrations and at full aperture a nice blur, which of course you would actually expect from a lens with such high brightness. For further judgment, we will have to wait until we can test this lens extensively ourselves. Photo: Andrei Coste AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 FE Autofocus, full frame, wide-angle to short-telephoto zoom lens - Sony FE Mount There is a long-ish thread on the lens over at FM. In particular, user Jerky-san covered his whole experience with the lens, starting here - https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1801176/3#16232973 Rumors from the Chinese social network Weibo suggest that Samyang will soon announce a new 35-150mm f/2.0-2.8 mirrorless lens for Sony E-mount. The specifications should be similar or identical to the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD lens for Sony E-mount:The goal of such a lens is to be highly performant and versatile and your unique lens for street, wedding, studio, sports photography Leica M11-P announced: the world’s first camera with Content Authentication (plus a new Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH lens) Most of my photography is fast-paced event stuff, dancing and other performing asrts. The Tamron can keep up quite well, but I wouldn't mind having even better AF performance; some Sony lenses I have tried such as the new 70-200/2.8 II can beat it (at a hefty premium, of course). I definitely wouldn't want to lose any AF performance. Do you ever take shots that take advantage of the wide apertures, or are you always stopping down a few stops?" This zoom lens covers everything from the 35mm wide angle to 150mm telephoto, including all the commonly used focal lengths in - between, so it’s handy for travel as it can replace several individual lenses. Seamlessly take photos without switching lenses in various situations.

Safari Bob (on these forums) has been reporting his (largely positive) experience with his Samyang 35-150. As noted previously, Samyang has worked hard to optically correct the 35-150mm zoom as effectively as it can, and it shows in the optical performance. The center sharpness is exceptional across the focal range and while there is some fall-off towards the corners at 35mm and f/2.0, it’s not as much as might be expected. By f/4.0, the centre-to-corner sharpness is impressively uniform as is the brightness. Again, there’s slight vignetting when shooting at the widest focal length and wide open, but it’s not excessive and may not even be enough to warrant any post-camera correction (depending on your personal preferences).Additionally, Samyang claims that the lens is parfocal (digital par-focal) so the focus should stay in place when zooming. Source: Samyang Price and availability The Samyang 35-150mm F2-2.8 is an attempt from Samyang to copy the success of the Tamron 35-150mm F2-2.8 Di III VXD but offering it at a lower price (1350 instead of 1800 euros)

The two round buttons made of soft rubber have a focus save function which can store 2 points of focus. In addition, three custom mode switches on the lens can be pre-programmed via the optional Lens Station, allowing you to set up the mode to suit your preference. I also used to have to have two bodies with me, but got a lens about a year ago that covered everything, so now I can just carry one body/lens, and I agree it's a game changer. Le niveau d’aberrations chromatiques et de vignettage ne sont pas très différents entre les deux objectifs Its fast maximum aperture also helps you to control camera movement by permitting a higher shutter speed, or when trying to reduce noise by choosing a low ISO. Even when used with the latest mirrorless cameras that require high - resolution performance, images are sharp edge - to - edge and from centre to every corner, across the entire frame of the photo. Fast and Accurate AF Performance Faulty review and all, it did seem to perform well on its own. That said, I do think Tamron makes better lenses. The AF motor of the Samyang is unsettling (having owned most of their AF lenses)
