A gorgeous way to share recipes from around the world with children, Lunch at 10 Pomegranate Street serves up an array of flavours from the residents of each apartment with simple instructions and tasty ingredients to inspire even reluctant tasters to step into the kitchen. There is much more to this book than recipes … Across these few recipes are so many new flavours or tastes I’d given up trying on my daughter … Felicita Sala, I salute you.

Mister Ibrahim is remembering his childhood home as he bakes aubergines and mixes in the tahini, while across the hall Jemima and Rosie argue about who has taken the last banana. The recipes are irresistible and children would enjoy finding out about their provenance as well as making them. Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling. This is such a lovely children’s book … with beautifully drawn recipes from green rice to salmorejo.The world’s cuisines are brought together with some well-considered pencil strokes – a book for adults to drool over, as well as children. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly!

The deep, soft colours, the wonderful faces and rooms, are so detailed and interesting, it’s almost as if each picture is just waiting to be walked into .
