Decompression performance is more impressive when compared to the Intel competition and this is due to AMD's SMT implementation working better, and as a result the 5600G was just 8% slower than Intel's previous generation 8-core Core i7-10700. Still, when compared to the 5600X, it was 10% slower which is disappointing. For everyone else, a mid-range 6-core/12-thread processor, such as the Intel Core i5-10400F and a second hand graphics card such as the GTX 1060 3GB will serve you far better, at least for gaming, offering roughly twice the performance for the same price. Finally, we have the 10 game average data and as expected given what we just saw, the 5600G is only comparable with the 3700X when it comes to high-end gaming using a powerful discrete graphics card. Of course that's not bad, but it does mean cheaper parts like the 10400F will deliver comparable or often better performance.

Adobe Premiere is a little more core-heavy and as a result the 5600G falls behind the 5700G, but when compared to the 5600X, it's only 4% slower and therefore is comparable to the Core i5-11600K in this test. With a CPU boost speed of 3.9GHz and a graphics core frequency 1900mhz at the heart of the Volt system, you won't miss a beat of the action, whether that's in Shooters, RPG's or MOBA's. I also had similar issues with Intel AX wireless at that time (Around x570 Master, motherboard). And that doesn't even cover trying to get RGB in Linux working. When building a system, and especially one designed for multiplayer gaming, having the option to save on a GPU and instead put that money into a faster monitor could mean the difference between Gold and Diamond ranks next season (or between 60Hz and 240Hz, depending on the monitor model). At 1080p, the Ryzen 5 5600G was just about able to hit the 165Hz/165fps threshold in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, a mark that could easily be exceeded with just one or two more in-game settings turned down.

With Your choice of 2666MHz RAM, Storage and Cooling options, you can configure your new PC in exactly the way you want. PLUS the 7 on-chip Vega Graphics cores make this CPU the foremost technology for mid-range gaming and beyond. Gaming PCs Liquid Series® PCs Video Editing PCs Pro Audio Computers Professional Workstations Desktop PCs Even when testing with After Effects we find that the 5600G is ~9% slower than the 5600X and because this is a more lightly threaded application, the 5600G is comparable to the 5700G.The R7 5700G then really is a product for OEM system builders. They get to advertise their compact and affordable PCs as serious gaming systems featuring 8 cores of Ryzen 7 power, while also affording them the luxury of slapping on a Radeon graphics logo, so you know it's ready for Cyberpunk 2077 or any other modern game that it can't actually run at a satisfactory level, but of course that doesn't mater, if just has to give the impression that it's a serious gaming machine. It's worth mentioning that AMD is positioning the 5000-G series as flexible, scalable and accessible APUs for PC enthusiasts, said to deliver exceptional price to performance for gaming focused PCs. They even go as far as to say "incredible gaming on Radeon IGP." So make no mistake, AMD is pushing the 5600G and 5700G as gaming-focused products.

Then we want to see how well it works with the Vega iGPU, and for this we'll be comparing it against the Ryzen 5 3400G, Ryzen 7 5700G and Core i7-11700, all using integrated graphics. The Ryzen 5 5600G is also far more suitable than the 5700G as a stop-gap for those holding out for GPU pricing to recover, and it's much more economical for use in home theater PCs. So as we see it, there's far more use cases where the 5600G makes sense and that makes it a more valuable product in our opinion. Shopping Shortcuts: It also means when CPU bound the 5600G was on average 14% slower than the 5600X, which is a reasonably large margin. Of course it's well worth noting that for the majority of gamers, and hardware configurations, the performance difference between these two CPUs is going to be very small as you'll almost always end up GPU limited. But most people asking this question want to know if you can add in a discrete graphics card down the road and call it a day. Unfortunately, you can’t. As with all Zen 3 processors, the Ryzen 5000G chips step up from DDR4-2933 to DDR4-3200 interface, which will help boost gaming performance with the integrated GPU. Surprisingly, the majority of the Ryzen 5000G 'Cezanne' SoC comes from the Ryzen 4000 'Renoir' SoC. To improve time to market, AMD essentially swapped in new Zen 3 cores, leaving the I/O, 7nm Radeon RX Vega integrated graphics engine, and SoC design intact. As such, the 5600G has 24 lanes of PCIe 3.0 connectivity compared to 24 lanes of PCIe 4.0 found on the Ryzen 5000 models for the desktop PC. AMD also chose to reuse the 7nm Vega graphics engine instead of incorporating newer RDNA variants. The GPU shortage appears to be improving ever so slowly, thanks in part to the collapse of mining profitability and China shutting down mining firms, but we expect it to persist to some extent over the next several months. If the 5600G slots in well under its X-equipped counterpart, the Ryzen 5 5600X, it could be a tough chip to beat. However, that isn't an easy task given the tradeoffs associated with Cezanne's monolithic die design, which differs significantly from the chiplet-based Ryzen 5000 chips. Delivery times are typically 5-7 working days on PC gaming systems. If you have a particular delivery date in mind please give us a call and we will do our very best to accommodate your requirements! It's the same with Adobe Photoshop which is another lightly threaded application that typically only leans on 1 or 2 cores heavily. Therefore we're looking at comparable performance between not just the 5600G and 5700G, but also the new Core i5-11400F.And yes an AMD cpu without the GPU enabled works fine. I then ran into the second problem which is that even with a late Ubuntu distribution the AMD DRM gpu code didn't not want to install. I have never encountered this level of incompatibility since I've been using Linux which is around Y2k. Naturally AMD support doesn't care since it is Linux. For this level of incompatibility I might as well be running an ARM processor. Of the big PC vendors like HP, Lenovo, and Dell, HP dominates the offerings. Whether it’s these basic Pavilion models or higher-end lines where the Ryzen APUs get paired with discrete GPUs from the get-go, HP seems to be the main company that’s gone all in on Cezanne.
