Description

Girl power abounds in this book about coding that introduces young readers to the world of programming while offering them hands-on activities via a companion app. A) This book is about the underground like the sewer, electricity cables, living things, water pipes, etc. My seven-year-old son brought this book home from school and immediately spread the accordion-style folded pages out to their impressive full length across the floor. The children look at the vocabulary associated with the underground and earth and retrieve information as well as start to make some simple inferences. This award-winning, double-sided foldout book takes you on a fascinating journey down through the layers of the Earth, all the way to the planet's core and out the other side.

The Street Beneath My Feet does an amazing job of helping us visual something we will never truly see.

For example, this would be a great book to use in conjunction with science class if students are studying soil, types of rocks, or animals that live underground. At the end of the first oversize eleven pages of layers, the reader then goes back through he other side of the fold-out pages, continuing to discover more layers of information. Students might choose to become ‘specialists’ on archaeology, paleontology, precious stones, subway systems, volcanoes, or any of the varied topics that are covered in this book. Mixing urban and rural settings, covering subjects such as geology, archaeology and natural history, The Street Beneath My Feetoffers children the opportunity to explore their world through a detailed learning experience.

Description Description This award-winning, double-sided foldout book takes you on a fascinating journey down through the layers of the Earth, all the way to the planet’s core and out the other side.

I used the smart notebook each day as my planning, and the children stick in the learning objectives and vocabulary collection sheets on the left hand side of English books, as we jot our vocabulary and ideas. The geologic layers are depicted in 10 vertical spreads that require a 90-degree turn to be read and include endpapers, which open out, concertina fashion, to show the interior of the Earth to its core. It made for a slightly more difficult reading but was worth it for the interest it added to the topic. I especially love The Street Beneath My Feet because it does not lose sight of it's big picture goal.

The foldout style of this book also lends to the teaching experience as children can have a hands-on view of something that would otherwise be quite messy outside. The Street Beneath My Feet written by Charlotte Guillain and illustrated by Yuval Zommer is an enchanting non-fiction book about what goes on underground. An extraordinary unfolding book to take young geologists to the Earth's core and back again, with richly enticing illustrations. Also, and I realise I'm nit-picking, but I will argue the point of this book was to illuminate - sewage and storm drains/runoff don't always (or ideally) mix together. meter lange kaart die je dan van boven naar beneden en dan weer terug (want de achterkant heeft ook nog de reis terug, met nog meer informatie en andere leuke dingen die je kunt vinden in onze aardbodem) kan lezen en ontdekken.

If you were to bring this book in your classroom every student would get excited about it, because this is not something they may have seen before. The book was written as if it was talking to the reader and inviting them to take a journey with them! Because of the book's fold-out concertina design, readers may unfold it and discover the Earth's layers in a fun and interactive way. This lovely non-fiction picture book is a must for any kid (or parent) who enjoys thinking about what exists, grows, hides, tunnels, and may yet to be discovered beneath us.A beautiful fold-out book that showcases the wonders of the earth beneath our feet and one with real wow-factor.
