Step 1 - Installing the new boot release: To start, remove the boot door interior lining. This is held in by many trim clips that pop out when pulled. Once this is done, there is also a Torx screw holding in the inside boot handle which ideally needs to be removed. Once this is done, you will be able to see the boot release from the inside. Remove the connector in the original boot release. COMPATIBLE WITH ANY RCD510, RNS315 OR RNS510 HEADUNITS, JUST GOOGLE YOUR HEADUNIT AND COMPARE IMAGES.

Navigation is what everyone will complain about, I agree google is far superior, Apple works better than most factory systems Then simply connect the two connectors together and pull the wiring from inside the car. You need to have as much of the wiring in the car as possible so you can connect it to the 12v+ and ground sources. The RCA cable is more than long enough. Please note that if your car is older than 2009, it may be compatible, however you will need the canbus adapter cable, which we sell separately. Step 2 - Threading wire from the car to the boot: Patience at the ready because this step is a *****. You will need to thread the main wiring --> camera connector through the rubber tailgate tunnel and up through the tunnel running along the side of the tailgate. You will need something long, thin and strong (I used an old wire coat hanger). You will also need to peel away the head lining, and I also ended up removing the C pillar trim ( this is already covered at the bottom of another post named rear camera wiring for 2011 fabia). I did this part in three steps:

I personally stripped the reverse wiring and wound the relay wiring around it, then used insulating tape to seal (I also did this for the relay-out to camera wiring). Once you're happy that the connections are secure, move onto the next step. You also need to attach the antenna adapter, as the factory radio has a double fakra connection and the RCD330 only has one. Again, simply plug in. Because the RCD330 system is CAN linked, you will also see the visualization of the original VW parking sensors on this system. Hands-free and Bluetooth connection works with all (smart) phones with Bluetooth, including the iPhone and all Android & Windows devices. This RCD330 is code free (MIB Platform) and does not have an AF and TP function. No user operation / manual is supplied with this product. After mounting in your Volkswagen, plug and play. There is no CD player in the device, so the screen is extra large (12.5 cm diagonal). The RCD360 Pro is an stereo which is originally only produced for cars exported to Asian countries, not UK or Europe. The beauty of this head unit is that it offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link at the same price of an App Connect activation. It is compatible with most PQ 35/46 cars (details on compatibility are below). Please note these units are different than the cheaper RCD360 units with Apple CarPlay only If you install the wireless carplay unit and automatically booting and firmware is 5532, you need to install 5536 firmware to solve this problem.

Finally, feed the coat hanger through the bottom end of the tailgate tunnel and try to hook it onto the connector. Once hooked, give it a pull and hopefully it comes out of the other side! With a simplified interface, large buttons and powerful voice actions, Android Auto is designed to make it easier to use apps from your phone while you’re on the road. If your Car Model is before 2009 or has 8 Buttons MFSW Steering Wheel, the buttons may not work with RCD330, you will need to buy a CANBUS simulator adapter. On which iPhone does Apple Carplay actually work? Apple CarPlay works on the following iPhone types: iPhone 11, Xr, Xs, iPhone 10, iPhone 8, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5. Remove the rubber tailgate tunnel on the tailgate side so you can see all the way through to the inside of the car. You can reach underneath the head lining and feel the hole in the ceiling which leads to this tunnel. Once you are confident where the hole is, try to thread the connector through the rubber tunnel. Aside from this hitch, which took me 20 minutes to correct, the rest of the install was easy as pie. 40 minutes all up. SD card reading error however. I understand its a formatting issue. Currently formatted as fAT and needs to be exFAT. This fixed it and the SD card is read 10 times faster than the old RCd510 did. I could do this easily with my fingers starting at the top left hand side, but you may want to use a trim removal tool. Once this is done, remove the four Torx 20 screws (two each side) which will allow the radio to come out. For this particular camera, there is a connection between the camera and the main wiring (RCA, 12v+, ground) as shown in the second attached picture. This made it slightly easier for this next step.Once this is done, remove the rubber grommet for the heated rear window and feed the coat hanger through to the top of the tailgate. Hook the connector and pull through to the hole for the rear heated window wire. Listen to your favourite media apps including Google Play Music, Spotify, TuneIn, and many more Audio apps. If you don’t have the wireless carplay unit installed, you don’t need to install it, 5532 is also a good choice for you. 5532 is free. Attention! The version with only Apple Carplay runs on Windows, not the Windows that you are used to from your computer, but a modified version for optimal use on smaller screens in combination with a touchscreen. These are encrypted operating systems, therefore they cannot be updated in the future. The version with Apple Carplay and Android Auto has an operating system based on Linux, these can be updated and are not encrypted. Linux ‘runs’ a bit more stable in practice than Windows. Reversing sensor disply works. Bluetooth is fantastic, and audio quality is equivalent to the old 510.
